Applications for the COBALT Prize
The  Toronto Blues Society  and  Paul Reddick  are happy to collaborate once again for the fifth annual Cobalt Prize Contemporary Blues Composition Award.  The submissions are now open! The intention behind the COBALT Prize is to promote blues music through exploration of its form. A cash prize of  $1000  will be presented to the winner at the upcoming Maple Blues Awards, being held at Koerner Hall in Toronto on Monday, February 4, 2019. The second and third place winners will each receive  $250 .

Two time Grammy-nominated blues-rock guitar icon  Joe Bonamassa  will stop in Toronto on  November 2-3  in support of his upcoming all-original Studio Album “ Redemption ” (J&R Adventures), which will be released September 21, 2018. Hailed worldwide as one of the greatest guitar players of his generation, Bonamassa has almost single-handedly redefined the blues-rock genre and brought it into the mainstream. The Women's Blues Revue   returns with its 32nd edition, featuring some of Canada's finest musicians backed by the all-star Women's Blues Revue Band: Rebecca Hennessy  (Bandleader/Trumpet), Elena Kapeleris  (Sax), Emily Burgess  (Guitar), Carrie Chesnutt  (Sax), Morgan Doctor  (Drums), Lily Sazz  (Keys), Anna Ruddick (bass). T oronto Blues Society will celebrate its annual show this year at Toronto's  Roy Thomson Hall , as Massey Hall temporarily closes its red doors for a 2-year   revitalization .

The Women's Blues Revue will take place on  Friday ,   November 16   at  8pm . Dione Taylor , Suzie Vinnick , Samantha Martin , Nicky Lawrence , and Chloe Watkinson are amongst our star-studded lineup (stay tuned for the last name yet to be added!) . The night is hosted by Shakura S'Aida . This one will be an experience that you wouldn't want to miss out so hurry up and catch the best available seats! Artist Corner: Dione Taylor
Music has always been an important and integral part of Dione Taylor’s life. A pastor’s daughter from Saskatchewan, she was born and raised in a family she describes as “really connected to the gift of song. My whole family sings and plays instruments in church,” praises Ms. Taylor, who began playing the organ at age four and by ten was the music director and organist at The Shiloh Assembly Apostolic Church in Regina.

Blues Summit 9 at the Marriott Courtyard

February 1-4, 2019
Produced by Toronto Blues Society bi-annually, the Blues Summit  is Canada’s not-to-be-missed forum for all members of the blues music community including artists, presenters, agents, festival bookers, event organizers, radio hosts and industry representatives of all kinds. The conference provides an opportunity for members of the community to connect as well as for artists to showcase in front of blues industry professionals.

We are delighted to work with Marriott Courtyard as our host hotel for the Blues Summit 9 which takes place in February 1-4 . All the Blues Summit events and panels will be at the Marriott Courtyard in downtown Toronto. An audience favourite, Raoul Bhaneja will charm and entertain attending blues fans through the night.
