Happy Birthday CreativeGround! CreativeGround is a free directory of New England's creative enterprises and artists. This year, CreativeGround added new users and welcomed many new types of businesses and institutions to better illustrate the rich tapestry of the New England creative economy:
Nearly 90,000 visitors to the site and over 2,500 hours of use in the past year
Over 700 new profile creations and 110 existing profiles claimed by users
Creative City Hosts Social Media 101, Accessibility Workshop
In addition to providing grants, Creative City also provides professional development and network building opportunities for grant recipients. On March 1, we gathered for our first cross-cohort gathering of the year, the Social Media Social. This evening paired short presentations on some best practices for using social media along with some time for grantees from across cohorts to connect with one another in person. Our guest presenters were fellow Creative City grantees Maia Dolphin-Krute and Kerry Thompson.

In February 2017, the New England Foundation for the Arts began work on a new strategic plan. In light of the rapidly changing political and social environment for arts and culture organizations, and with new staff and board leadership in place, NEFA’s goal was to craft a three-year plan that is both comprehensive and adaptable to changing conditions.
The New England Foundation for the Arts invests in artists and communities and fosters equitable access to the arts, enriching the cultural landscape in New England and the nation. NEFA accomplishes this by granting funds to artists and cultural organizations; connecting them to networks and knowledge-building opportunities; and analyzing their economic contributions. NEFA serves as a regional partner for the National Endowment for the Arts, New England’s state arts agencies, and private foundations.Learn more at nefa.org.
