Beethoven's "Emperor" Concerto

"Majestic," "regal," and "heroic" have all been used to describe Beethoven's monumental final piano concerto. Brazilian pianist Arnaldo Cohen appears along with frequent ASO collaborator Michael Morgan on the podium.


 

A Choreographer's Showcase

The Dance Foundation 
 
Experience dance works created by up and coming choreographers from around the country. At the end of each show, audience members will be given the chance to nominate their favorite choreographer. The choreographer with the most votes will receive a contract with AROVA to set a new work for spring 2017.

Future Elevators Album Release Party

Celebrate the debut release of the self-titled album by local band Future Elevators. They will perform live along with Dead Balloons and Omari Jazz. Cantina on Wheels and Trim Tab Brewing will also be on site with food and brews. The Comedy of Errors

Alabama Shakespeare Festival presents a special Birmingham performance. The Comedy of Errors tells the story of two pairs of identical twins who, after being separated in a shipwreck as babies, find themselves in a seaport town with a reputation for sorcery and magic.

Enjoy a cocktail dinner by IZ Catering, a silent auction, and live music by the Rock Candy Band. Proceeds fund daily research efforts and help facilitate the treatment discoveries at the UAB Comprehensive Cancer Center.
 

Rebirth Brass Band

Whether seen on HBO's Treme or at their legendary Tuesday night gig at The Maple Leaf, Grammy-winning Rebirth Brass Band is a true New Orleans institution. Formed in 1983 by the Frazier brothers, the band has evolved from playing the streets of the French Quarter to playing festivals and stages all over the world. 
 

The UNCF Mayor's Masked Ball
February 27, 7 p.m.

This premier fundraising gala is a major social event for the Birmingham office, focusing on raising public awareness and support. Guests will enjoy a red-carpet affair featuring dining, entertainment, and a parade of masks. Birmingham Mayor William Bell will serve as host.
