Dateline DA February 2014

While it is cold and blustery outside, inside Denver Academy we are busily planning for Fall 2014. We are delighted to welcome back such wonderful students and look forward to having them on campus for another year. In order for us to plan efficiently and provide the best quality education, we need for your family to complete the reenrollment process.

The Admissions Office is excited to roll out a more streamline reenrollment process. In the past, returning families would receive a large packet of forms to update student information as well a tuition agreement.

This year, families need only to sign and return the tuition agreement (that will arrive in your mailbox shortly) and pay the reenrollment deposit of $1,000. Those families that receive financial assistance will be informed of their financial aid award in the same mailing.

In order to make things easier for our families, you can simply scan and email your signed tuition agreement to our accounting office and pay online through our new e-check portal. You are also welcome to simply mail in the tuition agreement with a deposit check as before. It is our hope that this new process will make it much easier to complete reenrollment in a timely manner.

If you have question about reenrollment don't hesitate to contact our Admissions or Business offices.

Sincerely,

Dan Loan

Director of Communications and Enrollment

A Novel Night at Barnes & Noble

On February 12, 2014 from 3:30-7:00 p.m., we'll be hosting A Novel Night at the Barnes & Noble just north of Colorado & Mississippi. We'll have art and photography displays, music, circus acts, drama presentations, an author signing/presentation and other performances by students and teachers. We'll be doing crafts and activities all evening, and teachers' wish list items will be available for purchase. All students visiting the fair that evening will receive a free homework pass!

And if you can't make it that evening, all purchases from Feb. 8-Feb. 14, 2014 (both in store and online at www.bn.com) will benefit our library-just refer to ID#11294295. Feel free to share this information with friends and family; anyone using this ID number benefits our school!

As in years past, we'll partner with local restaurants! Tokyo Joe's, Modmarket and Pinkberry are all going to donate 20 percent back to Denver Academy--Pinkberry's promotion goes on all day on Feb. 12, and Tokyo Joe's and ModMarket's promotion hours are 4:00-8:00 p.m. on Feb. 12.

Local authors Molly Wingate and Marti Woodward will be at Barnes & Noble on February 12 during our Novel Night from 3:30-7:00 p.m. to discuss their book Slow Parenting Teens. Molly is a teacher and Marti is a counselor, and they have combined their personal and professional expertise to create the Slow Parenting program. Sales of their book will go toward our book fair totals.

Thank you for your support! If you have any questions, please contact Jolene Gutierrez.

ACT Prep Software
The College and Transition Counseling Program at Denver Academy is excited to announce that we have purchased ACT prep software for students. This online software is called Method Test Prep and it helps students build their math, reading, writing and ACT test prep skills. Students can listen to math, verbal and writing tutorials and each tutorial is accompanied by a quiz to test student mastery. The program is highly adaptive and keeps track of a student's strengths and weaknesses. Students have access to a large pool of practice questions and receive instant feedback upon completion of each question. This feedback includes easy-to-understand explanations. Method Test Prep is designed to be used independently or as a supplement to other SAT or ACT prep.

The student login is his/her DA email address without the "@denveracademy.org." Passwords are "denveracademy." For instance, John Doe's ([email protected]) username would be "doejo" and password "denveracademy."

Attention Parents of Juniors and Seniors!
