DA News and Upcoming Events

Drama Production of The Foreigner

When two British officers (one so pathologically shy, he poses as a foreigner who neither speaks nor understands English) visit a hunting lodge in rural Georgia, they become privy to the secrets and scandals of the other guests--an ex-debutant and her simple brother (both in line for the family fortune), a pious reverend with a dark undertone, and a racist county inspector. The Foreigner, by Larry Shue, is a hilarious slapstick comedy in which the main character, Charlie, overhears a little too much and must influence the lives of everyone around him without alerting anyone of his true identity. Winner of two Obie Awards and two Outer Critics Circle Awards, including Best New American Play and Best Off-Broadway Production.

Two casts will be introducing the production directed by High School Drama teacher, Leigh Anne Jensen. Cast I will perform Thursday, November 10 at 7:00 p.m. and hold a Saturday matinée on November 12 at 2:00 p.m. Cast II will perform Friday, November 11 at 7:00 p.m. and Saturday, November 12 at 7:00 p.m. Tickets are $8 in advance and $9 at the door. Reserve your tickets today!

The Annual Fund is Important to Your Student

As a member of the Denver Academy community you have already shown your public support for both our school and its mission. Your participation in the Annual Fund is another vote of confidence in DA as we approach businesses and foundations for grants to enhance our school. For three consecutive years the faculty and staff have shown their unwavering dedication to our children by participating in the Annual Fund drive at a level of 100%.

The Annual Fund touches every aspect of life at DA. Is there a new computer available for your child to learn on? The Annual Fund helped pay for it. Does your student excel in the science laboratory? The Annual Fund helps make our labs safe environments for study. Is your student a budding actor or athlete? The athletic and theater facilities are maintained by the Annual Fund. Did your child discover a new interest on a field trip? Again, this trip was made possible in part because of the Annual Fund, which supports all elements of school life.

Our goal this year is 100% parent participation in the Annual Fund.

Making a gift is easy--by check, cash, or use your credit card to donate online. For answers to your questions, please contact Karen Lozow, Director of Annual Giving at 303.777.5870, ext. 218. Thank you for your investment in our Denver Academy students.
