Installation of "Hide" at Scott White Contemporary Art

Over the course of a year, Crystal Bridges President Don Bacigalupi and Assistant Curator Chad Alligood traveled 100,000 miles across the country to discover artists whose work has not yet been fully recognized. The result of this search is a one-of-a-kind exhibition that draws from every region of the U.S., offering an unusually diverse and nuanced look at American art. The 102 artists selected to participate in the exhibition range in age from 24 - 87, including 54 male and 48 female artists, who work in photography, video, ceramics, action/interaction, glass, fiber, installation, paper, painting, and sculpture.

Adey's "Hide" will not only be exhibited in State of the Art, but will remain a part of Crystal Bridges permanent collection. In this ground-breaking work from his exhibition Hither & Yon at Scott White Contemporary Art, Adey took a three-dimensional scan of his entire body, digitally unfolded the over 75,000 triangulated faces, and flattened them into one piece. This flattened rendition was then printed, laser-cut, and pinned to two pvc foam panels creating a map-like diptych of the artist's body.
