Day 19 of 31 "As Long as You Seek The Lord, He Will Make You Prosper"
Prosperity is not just meant for the old but for the young as well. The bible let's us know that Uzziah was exactly 16 years of age when he became King and ruled approximately 52 years. As a King he was also very wealthy. What I love and admire about this King is what 2 Chronicles 26:4-5 says, And he did that which was right in the sight of the Lord, according to all that his father Amaziah did. And he sought God in the days of Zechariah, who had understanding in the visions of God: and as long as he sought the Lord, God made him to prosper. In the beginning of Uzziah's reign this young King did what was right in the sight of God. He was a man that sought God about everything. He did nothing without first asking God for wisdom and direction. The problem in today's society whether in business, ministry or as an employee a lot of people do not seek the wisdom of God for minor and major decisions. Then when they fail they wonder why is it they failed. What happen to the anointing and the joy they once knew? So many are in such a hurry to impress others. Many are trying to keep up with the Joneses that they end up missing out on what God intended for them. All because they were so busy trying to be what others expected of them. As God's Modern Day Millionaires we must be careful that we don't allow our flesh to lead us but the wisdom of God, especially during hard economic or difficult times.
The bible tells us that Uzziah did three things that were worthy to mention here, he sought God, he often used the wisdom of his father Amaziah, and he sought the wisdom of Godly men who had understanding in the vision of God, such as Zechariah. 2 Chronicles 26:5b says, and as long as he sought the Lord, God made him to prosper. God will do for you what he did for Uzziah. God wants to prosper you. 3 John 2 says, "Beloved I wish above all things that you prosper, be in health even as your soul prospers". As long as we seek God about everything He will make us prosper. It is so easy to say you'll seek God when you are going through a season of lack. But what will you do when you began to prosper? Will you finish strong? Will you be found still seeking the Wisdom of God in abundance and prosperity? Will you still be found giving Him all the glory due His name? Will you remain humble?
God is also looking for those of us that will also finish strong. Uzziah started his reign doing all of the right things, but somewhere in his life he got what the elders use to say, "he got the big head, he started to smell himself. He started believing in his own press clippings".
2 Chronicles 26:16 says, "But when he was strong his heart was lifted up, to his destruction, for he transgressed against the Lord his God by entering the temple of the Lord to burn incense on the altar of incense. In response, God struck Uzziah with leprosy, and he was an isolated leper until his death". The painful irony about this king is he became full of himself. He became full of pride. The word of God lets us know that pride always comes before a great fall. This rich King who once was a man who sought God about everything, now dies in isolation, an outcast, full of disease and pain all because he became full of himself. He became full of pride. A man who once was full of humility as he sought the wisdom of God. Now he dies full of pride.
Uzziah disrespected and disregarded the proper protocol of the house of God and the role of the Priest of God. It was the role of the Priest to burn incense on the altar in the Temple of God. But King Uzziah took it upon himself to disrespect and disregard the proper protocol of the Priestly office and the Temple. Because of his pride he was struck with Leprosy and died alone as an outcast. Who do you know that has disrespected and disregarded the proper protocol of the house of God and the man or woman of God? We disrespect and disregard God's temple when we use His temple for our own lustful and selfish ways. We disrespect and dis regard God's temple when we don't tithe and give offering. When we don't serve in the temple any more. We disrespect and disregard The Priestly office. When we gossip by criticizing, murmur and complain about the leadership of the man or woman of God that God has ordained as His priest. These are only a few ways but maybe the holy spirit has already began to show you ways that you have disregarded or disrespected the temple and the temple priest. The one thing you could do now is repent. Ask God for forgiveness, then make the decision to do better. Make the necessary adjustments in Jesus Name.
What was even more tragic about this story is Uzziah had a young man that was admiring him from a distant. His name was Isaiah; Isaiah 6 tells us that in the year that Uzziah died Isaiah saw God. I believe before Uzziah died Isaiah worship and admired King Uzziah. But it took his death for Isaiah to see God for himself. He found out first hand who God was and was able to see the glory of God for himself. This defining moment for Isaiah changed his life forever. This lets us know that everything you do and say as one of God's Modern Day Millionaires, someone is watching and admiring you. Someone's baby boy or baby girl is watching you. How will you end your life? Will your life end the way it began or will you allow your own deceit and pride destroy you and all of the little ones that are relying on you? Remember "As Long as he sought The Lord, God made him To Prosper". Our God will do the same for you. As long as you continue to seek Him. You are one of God's Modern Day Millionaires.
Let's Pray, Dear God the word of God tells me that pride always comes before a fall. Forgive me for the time I have allowed pride to exist in my life. Forgive me for the times in which I have not sought your wisdom about minor and major decisions. I will seek you from this day forward about everything. I will also give you all the praise and honor due your name for the small thing as well as the things I call great. You are a great God and I love you. Thank you for teaching me to stand during hard economic times. For I decree that this season of lack and poverty is over in Jesus Name Amen!
