Day 5 of Hurricane Harvey response
We are now into Day 5 of our response efforts in South Texas. The coastline has taken a beating and many of the residents are still not back in their homes.

Over the last couple of days we have had the opportunity to serve the first responders that are working in and around Refugio county. The city has been without power, water, sewer and cell service. These things that we use each day and take for granted can become so important once we don't have them. Here are a few things we have been doing:

  • MDR has run through close to 2,000 gallons of water serving hot showers and clean restrooms to the over 175 first responders based out of here.
  • Refugio county has been utilizing the MDR Command Trailer for their 911 dispatch system because their building was destroyed.
  • Our teams have provided on the ground damage assessments and are beginning to put one of our drones in the air to provide a birds eye view of the devastation.
  • With the help of Aspen Water, we have been able to produce fresh water as needed.
  • Currently, Triple G Relief is mobilizing to provide hot meals for our team and other responders in the area.

Our Relief Team is preparing their resources and equipment to head this way in the next couple of days and we will begin mobilizing members from around the state to come in and begin the clean up process. It's going to be a long road, but MDR is here to serve.

In times like this, people are always looking for ways to support the effort. Here are some ways that you can support:
  • Pray - Minuteman always appreciates your prayer support for our teams and their families that they are away from.
  • Share - Take a few minutes and share Minuteman with your friends through email and social media.
  • Give - Any donation you can make towards our efforts here in South Texas is appreciated.
