ARTIST UPDATE: Miles Electric Band of Miles Davis Alums Will Replace St Germain in FREE Show
Friday, June 29 at 9PM
Miles Electric Band , an 11-member ensemble of world-class talents, will come from Los Angeles to replace St Germain on Friday, June 29 in the free show at 9 PM on the East Ave and Chestnut stage.

"Due to a medical emergency in France with one of their important band members, St Germain has unfortunately canceled its entire North American tour," said John Nugent, XFIJF Producer. "We send our sincere wishes for a speedy recovery."

The Miles Electric Band of Miles Davis alums includes on piano two Grammy® nominees John Beasley and Robert Irving III, Grammy® nominee Badal Roy on tabla, legendary P-funk guitarist and MD Blackbyrd McKnight, noted percussionist Munyungo Jackson and Grammy® winner Vince Wilburn, Jr., Davis’ nephew on drums. Also filling essential roles are bassist Darryl Jones, recognized for his recordings with Sting and decades long tour duty on bass for the Rolling Stones, percussionist Mino Cinelu whose music score was recognized at the Cannes Film Festival, Antoine Roney on saxophone who has toured the world with jazz veterans Freddie Hubbard and Elvin Jones, rounded out by the electronic flourishes of hip-hop turntablist DJ Logic.

The band revisits the repertoire from Davis’ electric period as a framework for modern jazz innovation. The band revisits the repertoire from Davis’ electric period as a framework for modern jazz innovation.
