The Legislative Committee of the Home Builders Association of Virginia (HBAV) continues to fight hard for your business and our industry AND your help is needed!
Day at the Capitol Housing Blitz
On Tuesday, January 31, 2017, a large group of members will gather in Richmond for what is being called a
“Day at the Capitol” Housing Blitz
. The primary message to our state legislators will be that amendments to 2016’s SB 549 – Proffer Reform Legislation would be premature because the measure has only been law for six months.
Although we are fortunate that proffers are currently not an issue in our area – our continued support is needed for the overall housing industry in Virginia because our local state legislators all have a vote. Therefore, we need to make the effort to ask for their continued support. As an aid to you, you can download HBAV’s 2017 Legislative Agenda by clicking here. Related “talking points” prepared by HBAV will be provided to those who are able to participate.
The goal is to carpool, which would involve leaving Roanoke no later than 6am the morning of January 31 in order to arrive in Richmond for a 9am briefing at the Hilton Richmond Downtown. We would then go, as a larger group, to the capitol complex to talk with every House Delegate and every State Senator about the matters on the 2017 Legislative Agenda. No need to worry about “what” to say – we will either have a designated spokesperson(s) or provide you with all that you need to know. We anticipate that everyone would arrive back in Roanoke by late afternoon. The attire for the event is hard hats and company logo apparel.
Please let Rena DeBerry (
) know by 12pm Tuesday, January 24, whether or not you or someone from your firm will participate. Thanks for supporting your local and state Association.
