This past Saturday, September 30th, St. Matthew's Church was at its very best. Parishioners reached out into the community to help in person. We heard from you through the Discernment process that hands-on Outreach is a top priority. So nearly 100 parishioners of all ages traveled to Elderhouse (Norwalk), Habitat for Humanity (Bridgeport), Homes with Hope (Westport), Open Door (Norwalk), Person to Person (Norwalk), Homefront (Bethel) and Pivot House (Bridgeport). All these non-profits make a huge difference to the clients they serve - all in their own way. And we helped them make that positive impact.
We came together again as a Parish that evening to share a meal and reflect on the day. Agency liaisons and parishioners spoke about their own experiences from the different agencies. And everyone enjoyed the stream of photos showing the work accomplished and camaraderie we experienced. You can see the joy of doing God's work in this video below.
A special thank you to Mary Ellen Waack and the Outreach Committee for organizing such a special day.
