Hi all,
I'm headed to
the cottage this evening for the annual "put in the dock" weekend celebration with our family. My job is to observe, and maybe fetch some tools. I'm sure that you, too, have some holiday activities planned for the long weekend.
Let us not forget the meaning behind the holiday - a remembrance of our fallen soldiers. Did you know Memorial Day [at first called "Decoration Day"] began after the Civil War in 1868? Did you know that t
he "
National Moment of Remembrance
" resolution was passed in December 2000 which asks that at 3 p.m. local time on Memorial Day, for all Americans "To voluntarily and informally observe in their own way a Moment of remembrance and respect, pausing from whatever they are doing for a moment of silence or listening to '
Taps?
" Read more about Memorial Day here.
Have a great, long weekend!
Peace
--Kathy Rohde
Regional Director
P.S. Don't forget that "
THE COTTAGE" is a site for our Thursday, June 15th Leadership Boot Camp. If you'd like to make a nice drive to Lakewood, WI and experience a wonderful gathering beside beautiful Maiden Lake, there is still room for you to attend. Click
here to register.

Without them, I am just 1."

WEAC's National Board Jump Start Training is July 24-26 at UW-Eau Claire
Jump Start is an intensive seminar geared for teachers pursuing National Board Certification who intend to submit components in the 2017-18 school year. This professional development opportunity has been designed by NEA members who are Nationally Board Certified Teachers (NBCTs). Over the years these union members have worked with thousands of candidates across the country assisting with component entry. In the Jump Start seminar you will be provided with important information about the certification process, time to examine component and assessment center requirements, the opportunity to plan how to meet requirements as well as time to collaborate and gather resources needed to pursue your certification. All of this in a supportive, constructive, and collegiate environment. Find out more and register now.

Insuring Your Most Valuable Possessions
Many homeowners assume their home insurance policy protects all of their possessions, even those of extreme value. However, standard home policies provide only limited protection for high-value items. So how do you make sure your family heirlooms or precious jewelry are fully insured? Make sure your valuable items are fully insured.
