2017 Imagination Celebration Poster Competition Winner Announced
"People's Choice" Contest Voting to Begin Soon

The 32nd Annual Imagination Celebration Poster Competition Winner is Juliette Huy, grade 8, Rancho Santa Margarita Intermediate School, Saddleback Valley Unified School District.  Her work appears on the posters and flyers and promotional advertising for the 2017 festival, which begins April 15.  Arts Orange County is also conducting a "People's Choice" Contest, and the public is invited to select their favorite from among the 30 other finalists.  A call for votes will be announced soon--watch for it in your Inbox!  All artists were asked to consider this year's theme:  Imagination: The Power of Possibility.
'Ellis Island' - First-Ever National Television Broadcast from Renée and Henry Segerstrom Concert Hall--for PBS 'Great Performances'


Pacific Symphony's April 6-8 performances of Peter Boyer's Grammy Award-nominated "Ellis Island: The Dream of America" will be recorded for national broadcast by PBS' acclaimed "Great Performances"-the first-ever national broadcast from the Renée and Henry Segerstrom Concert Hall. This national platform on public television will ensure that people around the nation will be able to enjoy this profound musical experience during the 2017-18 season of "Great Performances."  More here.
After finding forgeries of his work across Orange County, artist wages court fight against Newport billionaire

An artist discovered that copies of his original sculpture had been made and displayed in front of buildings owned by an Orange County developer, and has taken him to court.  Read more in the OC Register article here.

Create CA has launched a statewide effort to promote the "Declaration of the Rights of All Students to Equity in Arts Learning," which outlines each students' right to have access to high-quality public arts education, regardless of their background, culture, language or geographic location. The Declaration highlights that arts learning - which includes dance, music, theatre, and visual and media arts - is an essential part of a comprehensive education for all students. More here.
