The Reverend Charles
("Cholly") Frederic Penniman, Jr.
The Rev. Charles Frederic Penniman, Jr. was born in Meridian, Mississippi on June 9, 1928 to Charles and Lucile Penniman. He received his B.A. at Amhurst College in 1950 and his M.Div. at Virginia Theological Seminary in 1957. He was ordained to the diaconate on June 15, 1957 and the priesthood on June 20, 1958 by Bishop John Brooke Mosley. He married Annette Eckert on August 5, 1960. They had one child.
Reverend Penniman was the curate at Grace Church in Jamaica, New York from 1957 to 1959. He was the vicar of South Michigan and All Angels in Endicott, New York from 1959 to 1962. He was the rector of Trinity Memorial Church in Philadelphia from 1962 to 1972 and retired in 1993. He was a photographer with the Franklin Institute from 1972 to 1993 and a volunteer for many years afterwards. Reverend Penniman served on the Guatemala Companion Diocese Committee and Church Without Walls in 2003.
