Lockdown Drill Successful
We held a lockdown drill Tuesday morning. A member of the Greensboro Police Department, who was here to observe, said everyone did exactly as they should. Lockdown drills are part of Canterbury's crisis plan and we practice to help ensure that we're prepared to protect students in the unlikely event that something happens on or near campus. During an actual lockdown, we will communicate with you as quickly as possible. Should you receive a lockdown alert, please do not come to campus, which could compromise the safety of our students and staff, or call campus, as we must keep phone lines open to law enforcement and the campus silent and locked. Please wait for the school to communicate with you.
Cellphones In Carpool Line
Please don't use cellphones in carpool line. That is all.

Thanks to everyone who has made a commitment to the annual fund. Parent participation is at 92 percent and Board of Trustees and faculty and staff participation are 100 percent. The campaign runs through June, so there's still time to make a pledge. Donors as of Dec. 4 are listed in this document . Please contact Mary Dator ( ) if your information is incorrect.

Morning chapel on Monday, Dec. 18, will be a hymn fest, and parents are invited to join the fun. Let The CPA Take Care Of Teacher Gifts
Let the CPA help you check items off of your shopping list by taking care of holiday gifts for teachers and staff. Money the CPA collects for the Teacher Gift Fund provides gifts for every teacher and staff member during the holidays, for their birthdays, and at the end of the school year. You can make a voluntary contribution by sending a check to the office or your homeroom teacher with "Teacher Gift Fund" in the memo line. You can also make a donation through PayPal by clicking here   or by sending money to .
The suggested donation amount is $25 per child, but anything is appreciated. If you can't remember if you have already contributed this year or if you have any other questions, email this year's CPA Treasurer, Liddy Hall, at . Many thanks for helping us show appreciation to our fantastic Canterbury teachers and staff.

Girls On The Run Needs You
Girls on the Run is a fun, extra-curricular program that encourages 3rd and 4th grade girls to be joyful, healthy, and confident by creatively integrating running into each lesson. We are looking for several volunteer coaches so that we can offer this program at Canterbury again this spring. The Girls on the Run season includes two afternoon sessions ( 3:15 - 4:30 p.m.) a week for 10 weeks, culminating in a celebratory 5k run at the end. Last year, our season ran from mid-February to early May. Two coaches need to be present at every session. Girls on the Run provides the curriculum and coach and CPR training. You don't have to be a runner to help with this. If you are interested in volunteering, or if you would like more information, please contact Liddy Hall at

We Are Halfway To The (Box) Top!
Please turn in your box tops by Dec. 18, when we will be halfway through the race to the (box) top and will be counting box tops to see which classes are in the lead to win the class party in the spring. Keep clipping and send boxtops in with your student(s) to support Canterbury. Each lower school class has a collection box and the middle school has a central collection box in Armfield. If you have questions, please contact Kelly Graves ( ) or Sarah Schoultz ( ).
