A MESSAGE FROM
KELLEY PARRIS,
EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
Executive Director, Kelley Parris

Dear Partners and Advocates,

The Children's Board is excited to announce the beginning a year long tour of Hillsborough County to seek input and direction from community members.  Along with our Community Advisory Committee, starting in December, we will host the first of six "Town Hall" Meetings.  These meetings will be conveniently located at our Children's Board Family Resource Centers, and we want you to come out and tell us how we can help your community and share your vision for creating an environment where children are safe and families can thrive!  We are passionate about what we do and know the only way we can get there is by working together to create a brighter future for the entire county.  Our first meeting will be at 5 pm, December 11th at our Central Tampa location, 1002 East Palm Avenue.  I hope to see you all there.

My best,

Kelley

CHILDREN'S BOARD FAMILY RESOURCE CENTER
CENTRAL TAMPA
GRAND RE-OPENING

On November 20th the Children's Board Family Resource Center Central Tampa opened the doors to their new, much larger space. Still conveniently located at the Children's Board facility on East Palm Avenue, the center now occupies the space in the front of the building just across from the main reception desk.  The new facility has a larger conference area, children's play room, private counseling office and much more.  Stop by to see all of the exciting changes!

CHILDRENS BOARD FREE TUESDAYS
KICKS OFF AT  THE
GLAZER CHILDREN'S MUSEUM
Parents, do you need something to do with your children on Tuesdays? No worries, the Children's Board has you covered.  Through a unique partnership with the Glazer Children's Museum, the Children's Board is sponsoring free admission to the Museum on the first Tuesday of each month between the hours of 2:00-7:00 p.m.  That's right, the price of admission is on us! We realize the importance of play in a child's life, but parents rest assured, they are probably learning a thing or two about the world around them. At this interactive museum, children will experience a place where displays are designed to appeal to a child's natural sense of curiosity and nothing is off limits for them to touch. At the Glazer Children's Museum your child can be a pilot, drive a truck, cook a delicious meal and be a famous movie director where playing and pretending IS learning!
VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHT

The Children's Board is proud to grant funding to over 50 local organizations that provide programs and services to Hillsborough County's children and families. Every program couldn't do the good work they do without the help of volunteers. Below, we've highlighted a very special volunteer of a Children's Board-funded organization.

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY FIRE RESCUE AND THE CHILDREN'S BOARD
KEEPING FAMILIES SAFE
Maria Negron, Kelley Parris and Paula Scott at the HCFR  Awards Banquet
The Children's Board is always looking for new opportunities to keep the children and families in Hillsborough County Safe.  This month, the Children's Board was recognized for their partnership with the Hillsborough County Fire Rescue Foundation at their annual awards banquet for providing the funding to install Fire Alarms to families residing in unincorporated Hillsborough County, free of charge.

We all know fire alarms simply save lives, and with the expertise of the Hillsborough County Fire Rescue in fire prevention education and smoke alarm installation, together we are saving lives one home at a time.
If you do not have working fire alarms in your home or know someone without them, please contact Hillsborough County Fire Rescue at (813) 272-6600.  All you have to do is make the call and provide some basic information and they will coordinate staff to come to your home to install new smoke alarms so you can sleep in peace.

It is great partnerships like these that continue to make Hillsborough County such a wonderful place to live and raise children.
