Dear Parents,
As we celebrate Advent, we reflect on the words "coming" and "waiting". These words reference time and a focus on the future; looking forward to something new and different. We are preparing for Jesus and the Christmas season, starting with the Blessed Virgin Mary and her conception and preparation without sin, who gives birth to our promised Messiah. So we look forward with anticipation and excitement.
In today's immediate world, we must be aware that waiting creates anxiety, impatience, and frustration because we want "things' now. We don't like to wait and the Internet has increased our sense of immediacy for anything and everything.
We know Christmas will come and we will have time to celebrate, once we prepare. In preparing, we experience a "Gift" to be in that moment with God. As we prepare during this Advent, let us take some extra time to anticipate God and avoid some of the secular anxiety that takes away from the excitement of the coming of the Messiah.
As we journey through the Advent season at St. Francis, there are many things to anticipate. Fine Arts Night is Thursday, December 4th at 7pm. Please join us to view our students' artistic and musical talents. We will also be visiting Holy Faith and St. Augustine parishes this month to highlight what's happening at St. Francis and meet future students with their families. Also, don't forget to participate in our Christmas Drawing.
Congratulations to our students and families let by our Latin Club who helped raise $1,800 for turkeys and donated enough food to help over 20 families. Finally, please review the exam schedule with your young person, so that they prepare confidently and can enjoy the upcoming Christmas vacation.
Have a Blessed Christmas and Joyful New Year!
