Adopt a Family

You and your family can
adopt a family during the holidays and help a homeless family meet their essential needs: a coat, a pair of shoes, an outfit, and $25 grocery gift card. Families will be able to wrap these clothing items and open them at Christmas. The gift card will enable families to purchase their own Christmas dinner. We will provide you a list of each family member's clothing information. We have families of all sizes, ages and stages to be adopted for the holidays.

Giving Tree Toy Drive
HopeLink
Date/Time: Please deliver holiday donations by Monday, December 12. Food and toy donations can be delivered to any of HopeLink's five locations, Monday through Friday, 8:30am - 5pm

five service centers are located in Bellevue, Kirkland/Northshore, Redmond, Shoreline and Sno-Valley (Carnation)
Each year Hopelink serves more than 64,000 homeless and low-income families, children, seniors, and people with disabilities in north and east King County. You and your family can help make the holiday season easier and more joyful for HopeLink clients by collecting toy, clothing and food donations. Checkout

Sort and Pack Food
Food Lifeline
Date/Time: A variety of shifts are available, Monday through Saturday. Weekday sessions are Food Lifeline's greatest need for volunteer help! Check

Location: 815 S. 96th St., Seattle
Volunteers help Food Lifeline inspect and repack 40 million pounds of food each year and help make it possible to distribute 91,000 meals daily to our neighbors in need. Volunteers inspect, sort, and repack these donations into family size package for distribution to Food Lifeline's network of 275 hunger relief partners.
- Close-toed shoes are required, no exceptions.
- Long hair should be tied back.
- If needed, hairnets, aprons and gloves will be provided.
- Dress in layers, as the warehouse is not climate controlled.

Tree Planting at Sammamish Cove
Mountain to Sound Greenway
Date/Time: Saturday, December 10, 2 - 5pm
Location:
Saamamish Cove, Issaquah
Sammamish Cove is a former dairy farm adjacent to Lake Sammamish State Park. It borders Tibbetts Creek, a salmon-bearing stream, to the Northeast. Boasting sweeping views of the Issaquah Alps, the area has been overwhelmed by invasive weeds. Greenway Trust volunteers have worked hard throughout the year to remove these invasive weeds along the creek. Join us as we plant native trees and shrubs throughout this site.
Ages: Families with children 6 and older are welcome to volunteer. An adult must accompany each volunteer under age 13. All youth volunteers whose parents will not be present must bring a completed permission form in order to participate.
Time Commitment: Three hours

Holiday Carousel
Treehouse
Date/Time: Now through January 2
Location: Westlake Park in Downtown Seattle
In partnership with the Downtown Seattle Association, Treehouse provides volunteer support to staff the Holiday Carousel at Westlake Park. We welcome volunteers of all ages to greet riders, sell tickets, and collect donations that will help make the season brighter for youth in foster care.
Ages: Volunteers of all ages are welcome. Youth under 16 must volunteer with an adult.
Time Commitment: Shifts are between two and one-half to four hours

Holiday Giving for Homeless Youth
YouthCare
Date/Time: Donations can be delivered Monday through Friday, 9am - 5pm. The main office will be closed on December 24, 25, and 26.
Location: YouthCare Main Office, 2500 NE 54th St, Seattle
YouthCare helps build confidence and self-sufficiency for homeless youth by providing a continuum of care that includes outreach, basic services, emergency shelter, housing, counseling, education, and employment training. Help bring a little holiday joy to YouthCare clients by donating items from their
holiday wish list. Visit the

Food Distribution
North Helpline Emergency Services and Food Bank
Date/Time: Wednesdays and Saturdays 9:30am -1:30pm and Thursdays 4 - 7pm
Location: 12736 33rd Ave NE Seattle
Volunteers helping with food distribution will generally help with tasks such as check-in, line direction/greeting, distributing food to clients, helping to stock the distribution lines, and assisting clients with carts. Volunteers will be assigned to their positions during the distribution based upon the needs of the food bank.
Ages: Families with children six and older are welcome to volunteer together; teens 14 and older can volunteer on their own.
Time Commitment: Three to four hours

Kids Helping Kids
Wellspring Family Services
Date/Time: Once the jar is filled, children are invited to drop off their donation at Wellspring Family Services between 9 am - 4 pm, Monday - Friday.
Location: Wellspring Family Services, 1900 Rainier Ave South, Seattle
Wellspring Family Services helps children, adults and families who are experiencing crisis take the next step forward, tap into their own resilience and strength, and build community. Kids Helping Kids (KHK) is a youth philanthropy program that invites children to make a difference in the lives of their homeless peers by collecting coins for Wellspring Family Services. Your children can either create a giving jar or you can visit the Wellspring office to pick up a KHK jar. Help your children come up with creative ideas for filling their coin jars or check out
these ideas from Wellspring. Since 2009, KHK has raised more than $40,000 to support homeless children and families!

Giving Plates
Doing Good Together

Location: Your own home or community location
Making some baked goods to bring along to a holiday gathering? You and your family can bake up some extra treats to share as a holiday gift with new or isolated neighbors, sick or stressed friends, or even service providers you meet on a regular basis, like the mail carrier or school bus driver. Then your family can design giving plates to place your home baked goodies on as part of your gift! Visit the
