Mayor's Bike Walk Summit
Mark your calendar for
Thursday & Friday,  May 4 & 5, 2017.   The Mayor's Bike Walk Summit, a statewide event, is hosted by the City of Columbia Mayor's office, at the IT-ology building on Main Street, in collaboration with the Palmetto Cycling Coalition, Palmetto Conservation Foundation, SC Safe Routes to School, and the SC-ADA.  Join hundreds of Transportation Professionals, Elected Officials, Community Leaders, Main Street officials, Law Enforcement, and bike and walk enthusiasts from around our state for 2 days to learn about what makes our state more bike-able, walk-able, and livable.
ACTION!  Public Comment Opportunity!
Before the Dec. 22 deadline, take this opportunity to submit comment to SCDOT about their upcoming resurfacing projects!  This is a fantastic time to remind them of local bicycle and pedestrian needs, especially when bike lanes can be easily inserted.
Tell them "Before letting the resurfacing projects, please check with local Bicycle Master Plans to identify opportunities to insert bike lanes or related bike facilities when vehicular capacity is low enough to permit this easily.  Also, check with with local agencies on transit and pedestrian networks, to identify projects that can be planned collaboratively for these additional road users".
Thank you to all that donated during last month's Giving Tuesday!  This makes a difference.
