MEET CHRISTINA FEAGAN, Chamber Administrator
To many of you, Christina Feagan, our new Chamber Administrator, needs no introduction. A native of Rutherfordton, Christina has lived in Columbus for twenty-three years and has been with the Chamber since 2010. She began by shadowing Tabatha Cantrell, the former Events Coordinator, part time and worked on the BBQ Festival and other events, including the EXPO, Otho Gibbs Golf Tournament, Shuckin' and Shakin', Warrior Drive 5, and more.

Over the years Christina has made major contributions to the success of Chamber events and in the process has met many members and learned a great deal about Chamber operations. In her new role as our full time Administrator, there is much that is familiar to Christina, but even more that is new. In typical fashion she's been doing her best to learn quickly, and is starting to feel more at home with her new responsibilities.

You can email Christina, or by reach her by phone at 828-859-6236.
MEMBER SPOTLIGHT:
Landrum Hardware
Shawn and Susan Evans grew up in neighboring towns in rural Michigan. Shawn recalls going to the local hardware store with his father, the iconic kind of old fashioned store that was the hub of the community, with wooden floors, expert help and one of almost everything you could need.

Shawn and Susan both worked for Guardian Building Products, Shawn as the Director of Information Technology and Susan as the Director of Marketing and Communications. As the company evolved their positions transitioned to Greenville, and they relocated to Greer where they have lived for the past seventeen years.

Susan is an equestrian, so they spent a lot of time at F.E.N.C.E. and in the Landrum area where they discovered the 100 year old Landrum Hardware store which had many of the traditional qualities of the store in Michigan, and in 2013 when the opportunity arose, Shawn and Susan bought the business. For the last four years they have run the store, learning more and more about the hardware business and identifying ways to keep the best of the past while responding to the needs of today’s customers.
Today Landrum Hardware, part of the member-owned DoIt Best Corporation, a hardware, lumber and building materials co-operative, is in transition. A new 12,000 square foot store is under construction at East Rutherford and Campbell Avenue next to Bi-Lo that will be four times larger than the original with plenty of parking. Shawn expects the store to open in mid-2018.

What will the new store offer Landrum Hardware’s loyal customers? Shawn emphasizes that the expert guidance and friendly service that made the original store a focal point of the community aren’t going to change. He intends to keep the values of the traditional hardware stores that he grew up with, while being able to offer a larger and more varied inventory than space allowed before. He plans to enlarge the paint department and offer barn supplies, but the focus will remain on the basics: plumbing, electrical, tools, garden supplies, wood-working, etc. The best news is that you can still expect Shawn to stop everything to help you find the right compression fitting for your project, and with a larger inventory the chances will be even more likely that he has exactly the one you need.
