Working Together, Building Together
Carlos Bell,
President
As my term in office comes to an end, I would like to thank you for all the support you have given me during this time. It has been a pleasure and honor to serve as your President. I would like to extend my heartfelt appreciation to each of you for your dedication and continued commitment to outstanding spiritual care and education. ACPE has a long history and an international reputation for excellence which contributes to the overall strength of the field.

I want to recognize the visionary Board of Directors, national office staff, regional directors, commission/committee/task force members, and volunteers for the incredible work done to advance the profession.

Wayne Maberry, Accreditation Commission Chair
The Accreditation Commission had a very productive meeting in Atlanta last month. With many reviews taking place and new centers achieving accredited status, ACPE is thriving!

I am writing to share information about the Annual Report, which is must be completed by January 15, 2018. We are continuing to use BoardEffect, which we have found to be user-friendly and supportive of our work. As a Commission, we are always working to streamline our processes and to best support the work of our centers. To that end, the Commission has made some changes to the Annual Report submission process that we hope will make it more efficient.

International Relations Committee
Stephen Robinson,Chair, LDC
Are you interested in actively and intentionally seeking collaborative international relationships with faith groups, seminaries, and other organizations involved in spiritual care education and practice?

Do you want to help ACPE increase the number and diversity of ACPE Certified Educators, students, and accredited ACPE Centers?

At the end of 2015, ACPE's board adopted a report by the International Relations Task Force. One of the task force's recommendations was to create a standing committee for international relations. The committee's creation was postponed while ACPE evaluated and restructured its governance.

On Tuesday, November 28 ACPE joined thousands of non-profit organizations across the country in Giving Tuesday: The National Day of Giving. On that day, we exceeded our $5,000 goal, and raised $8,700 from 73 ACPE members, friends and staff to support innovative research and programs! Ending Our 50th Year with Gratitude!
With Thanksgiving festivities complete and before I begin my holiday shopping, I want to say "Thank You" to the folks who have made my experience as Chair of the ACPE Foundation's Annual Campaign rewarding. First, thank you to Jasmine Terry Okafor for all your creative thinking and diligence in reaching out to me, my Co-Chair George Grant, the Champions, the donors and the foundation leadership for recognizing innovation and planning for ACPE's future.

Speaking of Champions, a big "Thank You" to each of you-George Fitzgerald, Kathleen Gallivan, Brooks Heard, Don Ledbetter, Renita Mercado-Heinzl, Harlan Ratmeyer, and Les Small Stokes. Working alongside each of you has enriched my understanding of the ACPE.

You can make a significant gift to ACPE that costs you nothing now, and will keep on giving for years to come. Your gift can also memorialize a loved one. Here's how:

A gift in your will is one way you can secure your estate and create an impactful legacy with ACPE. A gift in your will has many advantages:

Well-Being Committee
The Board of Directors appointed the Professional Well-Being Committee (PWB) a couple of months ago so the committee has only met by phone two times in 2017. We have been broadly charged to support organizational and professional well-being through the development of programs, attention to inclusion and diversity, innovation, and the support of communities of practice. In a very short time, we have learned to emphasize professional well-being in our efforts and that communities of practice are one of many methods of educational support to explore.

The PWB has been working with the national office to streamline and develop the structural process to support our communities of practice.
