Want to get hands on with helping babies in need? Come help us with gear sorting and diaper wrapping at the warehouse! Our volunteer sessions are a great way to spend some time giving back to children in need in Baltimore. Unless otherwise noted, our sessions are family-friendly. There is space for small children to play/do activities and generally children 6 and up are able to help with sorting and/or diaper wrapping. Please bring a box of size 4, 5, or 6 diapers and/or a pack of wipes with you to the session.

Ages:  Families with children of all ages are welcome to participate. All children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

Holiday Toy Drive
Paul's Place
 
Date/Time: The ideal drop off time is Monday, December 3; all gifts must be delivered to Paul's Place by Tuesday, December 11. Contact Jayna Powell to confirm your donation and to schedule delivery.
 
Location: 1118 Ward St., Baltimore

Paul's Place is asking for your help to assist our neighbors affected by poverty. Please consider donating brand new, unwrapped gifts (price tags removed) for parents to select during our free holiday gift shop. Please also consider donating rolls of wrapping paper, ribbon, and full-sized toiletry items. Suggested items include:
  • Baby (infant to 3 years old): bath toys, personal care items, bibs, puzzles/toys/blocks, books, clothes, blankets.
  • Children (4-12 years old): board games, sports equipment, Nerf products, dolls (barbies, baby), DVDs, books, action figures, Legos and blocks, arts and crafts supplies, cars and trucks, hats, gloves, scarves, clothes.
  • Teen (13-17 years old): $20 gift cards to Target, Best Buy, Walmart, GameStop, sports equipment, headphones, DVDs, books, scented bath sets, perfume, lotion, nail polish, makeup sets, jewelry, clothing, anything Ravens or Orioles.

Holiday Food Baskets
Paul's Place
 
Date/Time: Please drop off holiday food by December 7. Contact Jayna Powell to confirm your donation and schedule delivery.

Paul's Place is asking for your help to assist our neighbors affected by poverty. Thanks to food donations, Paul's Place distributes 250 holiday baskets to those in need. Each family can use the following items to enjoy a holiday feast at home with their families:
  • Stuffing
  • Instant mashed potatoes
  • Turkey gravy
  • Cranberry sauce
  • Canned vegetables (corn, green beans)
  • Corn muffin mix
  • Brownie mix
  • Pancake mix and syrup
PLEASE NOTE: We cannot use over-sized boxes or cans of food from wholesale stores. Please check expiration dates.

Adopt a Resident
Weinberg Housing and Resource Center (WHRC)
 
Date/Time: Gifts must be wrapped and labeled and dropped off the WHRC Volunteer Manager by December 14.
 
Location: 620 Fallsway, Baltimore

WHRC hopes to provide a Christmas gift to every resident at our homeless shelter. Many of these individuals are separated from family and friends, and without your donations they may not receive anything for Christmas. Santa will deliver the gifts on Christmas Eve after a special dinner served restaurant-style to all residents. You will be provided a wish list for your resident in a few weeks. The suggested amount to spend on a gift is $40.

Holiday Helpers - Adopt a Family

Help make the holidays brighter for struggling families in Maryland. There are more than 200 families available for "adoption." After completing the sign-up form, you'll receive a wish list for each member of the family to purchase gifts that will bring smiles to faces of all ages! Adopt an Angel
Salvation Army Central Maryland

Because of your family, a little boy or girl in our community will have gifts on Christmas morning, knowing their Angel Tree gifts were thoughtfully chosen just for them. Adopting an Angel online is an easy 3-step process. Fill out the online registration form here. Your donated gifts will go directly to the specific child you select. Once you pick a child's name from The Salvation Army Online Angel Tree, he or she is removed from the list. You will be the only donor who will have the name and list of gifts for that child. Gifts should be dropped off at mall locations listed above.

Holiday Shop Gift Donations
The Family Tree

The Family Tree is Maryland's leading child abuse and neglect prevention center, providing the education and support parents need to raise healthy, productive children. Each December, The Family Tree organizes a Holiday Gift Center for vulnerable families who participate in our programs. Parents and caregivers sign up to meet with our shopping helpers and are given the opportunity to choose gifts for their children - at no cost to them. Your help is needed getting new, unwrapped gifts for boys and girls ages 0-16. The wish list includes clothing, toys, games, hygiene items, and gift cards. Click here for the full wish list.

One Warm Coat supports individuals, groups, companies, and organizations across the country by providing the tools and resources needed to hold a successful coat drive. Coats are distributed in the communities where they were collected, to children and adults in need, without charge, discrimination or obligation. Coats can be dropped off at a designated donation site or you can coordinate your own donation drive.

Making some baked goods to bring along to a holiday gathering? You and your family can bake up some extra treats to share as a holiday gift with new or isolated neighbors, sick or stressed friends, or even service providers you meet on a regular basis, like the mail carrier or school bus driver. Then your family can design giving plates to place your home baked goodies on as part of your gift!
