Hour of Code
During Qu3ST on Friday, December 9, students can participate in the Hour of Code. Each Academy will host a room for the Hour of Code and the other room will be for those working on homework. Here is our website with various links to support students, parents, and teachers.

Home access is available as well. Students and parents can access the Hour of Code  tutorials . Students can also access  code.org  through the  Clever portal , which is MPCSD new single sign-on portal for all of our on-line subscriptions. Through Clever, they should be able to easily sign up for an account and be able to access the self-paced coding courses that  Code  offers. These are 20+ hours long and provide instruction at levels from pre-reader through high-school.

Reductions and Parcel Tax
The school board continues to look at a blend of some cuts and a parcel tax replacement as a potential solution to the district's financial situation. A draft resolution of a parcel tax measure was discussed at the November 30 school board meeting, with input from the outgoing and incoming boards. When the new board meets for the first time on  December 5 , they will make a final decision and vote on placing a parcel tax on the ballot in March 2017. The board decided to use a $350 parcel tax with a term of 6 years as the starting point for their final discussions. The public is invited to attend:
  • Monday, December 5, 6:00 p.m. Hillview PAC
For detailed responses to many questions about the district's financial situation, please use the great resource on the district website, Structural Deficit FAQ's (Frequently Asked Questions) here. The FAQ's will be refreshed often. Should you not find the answer for which you are looking, please email  [email protected]
