Trimester 1 Progress Reports
The Trimester 1 Progress Reports have been sent to families electronically! If you have not received your child(ren)'s report, please contact Kelli at the front desk.

Thank you for allowing us to save resources through the electronic dissemination of Progress Reports!

Lost and Found
The AHS Lost and Found pile is growing! If your children are missing a coat, gloves, sweatshirt, hat, etc., please have them check the Lost and Found by the front desk. Any item not claimed prior to the upcoming December break will be donated.
An Author Among Us
Our own Mr. Portlock has written, illustrated and self-published a science book for children. Students have asked Mr. Portlock how they can get a copy of his book, Professor Cat's Guide to Science. Mr. Portlock has a few hard cover and paperback copies available. Please contact Kelli at the front desk if you would like to purchase a signed copy for your child.
Middle School Staffing Update
I am writing with mixed news. After more consideration, Mrs. Bulissa has decided she is not ready to come back to teaching after all (Mrs. Bulissa welcomed a new baby earlier this year). I have met with our current staff in an attempt to mitigate the sad circumstances. I feel that to bring a new teacher in at this point in the year, one without experience at Academy Hill, would not serve our students and families well.  Instead of hiring a long term substitute, we are filling the instructional void by adding a teaching period to existing schedules. Mr. Dindoffer will keep the 6th grade science class (in addition to the 7th and 8th grade math and science classes he is scheduled to teach). Mrs. Mazur, whom so many of you already know and love, will take on the grade 6 math class (but keep her current grade 3 class, teaching during one of the "specials" periods). The 6th graders will continue to have Mrs. Heinrichs for history and literacy.

The other change is to the 7th grade schedule. Instead of having me for history only, the 7th graders will also have me for literacy.

Please contact me if you have any questions. I am looking forward to spending more time in the classroom, starting this January!

Parent Association Corner

Thank you to everyone who came out to support the Barnes & Noble Book Fair for AHS, and to those who supported us online. We impressed the B&N staff and shoppers with our games, crafts, and live music. A special thank you to all of the parent, student and staff volunteers who wrapped presents, organized activity stations, shared time and talents, and served as ambassadors. Your assistance was greatly appreciated!

Thank you to the families who were able to join us at the Dining for Dollars event at Crepes Tea House last night. We send special appreciation to our hosts, Arturas and Alla Ribinskas, parents of Deniera.

Stay tuned for information about the Dow Jones Lottery - Coming Soon!
