Linda Marks, MSM, is pioneer in body psychotherapy who has developed, taught and practiced Emotional-Kinesthetic Psychotherapy (EKP) for 29 years. She is also a singer/songwriter, and loves the way music can speak heart to heart.Author of LIVING WITH VISION and HEALING THE WAR BETWEEN THE GENDERS, she co-founded the Massachusetts Association of Body Psychotherapists and Counseling Bodyworkers and is the founder of the Boston Area Sexuality and Spirituality Network. She holds degrees from Yale and MIT, and has a vital 18-year-old son.

The Natural Living Expo was a fun weekend of connecting with old friends and new friends. I was delighted that my friend and colleague of many years, Cuf Ferguson, spent some time at the HealingHeartPower booth introducing his new book Evolving the Human Race Game. And it was wonderful for Patricia Andrews, one of my early apprentices and staff members at the Institute for EKP, to spend some time at the booth on Sunday morning.

Upcoming Music Salon events, include the Boston Association for Cabaret Artists (BACA) Holiday Party on December 7, a special author's reception with Cuf Ferguson on January 11, and an evening of music with Bill and Bo Winiker in February. Work by visual artists will also be on display at Music Salon events.
December 13, I am leading a Community As Healer workshop from 1 - 4 pm in Newton.

| The Roots of Male Violence | |
My colleague, Jed Diamond, an expert on male psychology and male health, wrote a very timely article, "The 5 Hidden Reasons Men Become Violent and What We Can Do About It to Make the World Safer." In the wake of the Ferguson situation, this subject is particularly relevant.
While violence is perpetrated by both men and women, and clearly both men and woman are impacted by violence (and contribute to a culture of violence), more men perpetrate violence and are the victims of violence than women.
Jed defines violence using the World Health Organization's definition:
There are three kinds of violence, all inter-related:
1. Self-directed violence (including suicidal behavior and self-harm)
2. Interpersonal violence involving family and/or an intimate partner
3. Interpersonal violence involving the larger community (individuals involved may be unrelated)

| Being A Lighthouse |
As I have been leading workshops on the Power of Voice, a helpful image that
I've found myself using frequently is that of the lighthouse. Voice is more than the ability to speak or sing. Voice is actually a sense of who we are at the deepest level: spirit, heart and soul.
Finding one's voice is another way of saying, discovering and knowing who you really are. As you connect inside with your heart, soul and deepest knowing, your sense of self will seek forms of expression. And the pathways of expression, be they speaking, singing, drawing, dancing, writing, inventing....or anything else...are your unique gifts or your unique frequency that you project out into the world.

Music Notes

Music is such a source of great joy, and is a universal language to connect people heart-to-heart. In the spirit, I am working on recording a new CD, "Heart-to-Heart," working with the extraordinarily talented Doug Hammer at his Dreamworld Studio in Lynn, MA.
Friends ask where they can see me sing. Some of the places I sing regularly are listed below. I guarantee you will have a fun time at all of them!

What is EKP?
| EKP is Emotional-Kinesthetic Psychotherapy, a heart-centered, body-centered psychotherapy method Linda Marks developed and has taught and practiced for nearly twenty years. Working with the heart, touch with permission, the wisdom of the body and the intuitive guidance of the spirit, EKP creates a special sense of intimacy that deeply touches and transforms most all who participate.
Participants can be "client," witness or helper as an individual group member has a "turn" to do deeper heart-centered, body-centered psychospiritual work in the center. Since the electromagnetic field of the heart extends out 10 - 12 feet from our bodies, as we go deeper and open our hearts, we are all touched.
EKP helps restore our capacity as organs of perception. The skin is our largest organ, and a source of soul deep knowing, perception and expression. When our hearts and hands can work as one, we move beyond defenses safely and respectfully and find freedom, connection and expression. 
Emotional safety is the foundation of EKP. When we are emotionally safe, we are more aware of feelings, sensations and deeper thoughts in our bodies and hearts. You will have a chance to listen to and care for your heart as you help create and hold a safe healing space for everyone's heart. Experience what we mean when we say that in EKP, "when anyone has a turn, everyone has a turn."
