Jubilations abound! Welcoming Statement Approved

At the November 20 Church Conference, Maple Grove United Methodist Church resoundingly approved to become a member of the Reconciling Ministries Network--93 percent of the 134 who voted! This allows us to move forward with our paperwork to officially become a Reconciling Ministry Congregation. We will be listed on the Reconciling Ministry website so that those outside the church looking for a safe and inclusive place will be able to find us. There are many who have been hurt in the past by their church experiences and we want them to know that we as a church family love and respect all persons.

We are eager to make our inclusion work here at Maple Grove known. We will seek guidance and support from all within the congregation. Our future hopes are to highlight and embrace the words of our statement, encouraging all to "come and see". Thus far the conversations have been very positive and there has already been wonderful statements/testaments including joy and even tears upon the vote's conclusion. We are aware that change can be difficult and so we seek to go forward in a respectful and community based way.

Please stay tuned for future discussions that will revolve around signage, programming and a celebratory event that should send a strong message to our community that all are welcome.

God-Centered Wellbeing @ the Heart of Maple Grove

During this time of Advent and Christmas, we ask that you prayerfully reflect on what you feel God calling you to be or do in 2017.   Where in your life do you want to grow in wellbeing? How would you like to move beyond wellness towards wellbeing?  How would you like to move beyond isolating your faith towards integrating it into all aspects of your live?  How would you like to move beyond your personal health towards the wellbeing and unity of your community?  How would you like to create a faith community where together we support one another on our journeys towards wellbeing centered in God's Love?

Join us in January to explore and grow our wellbeing.

Indian Springs Secret Santa
Collections Taken December 4 & 11, both services

Each year the week before Christmas break, Indian Springs Elementary
School holds a gift shop where children can shop for holiday gifts for their family members. Typically, a parent or caregiver will fill out a list and send a small amount of money to school with which the children can shop. However, there is a population of students at Indian Springs who don't have the ability to participate in this project due to lack of funds. For the last two years, Maple Grove has provided them with cash so that they can provide kids with vouchers to pick out the same items as the other kids shop from rather than shop from a different section. We will be accepting donations for this cause on December 4 and 11 during worship--envelopes will be provided. If you have any questions or would like more information, contact Dawn Nauman at 614.506.0388.
Lifeline Screening

Register for a Wellness Package which includes 4 vascular tests and osteoporosis screening from $149 ($139 with our member discount). All five screenings take 60-90 minutes to complete. To register for this event and to receive a $10 discount off any package priced above $129, please call 1-888-653-6441 or visit the Life Line web site.

Where Do You Spy God?   We Spy God Project

Help us share the news that the Divine is at work!  It is once again time to submit photos or works of art and share what it means for the glory of Christ to shine through in our everyday lives. Sometimes it is difficult to feel the presence of God. Sometimes we simply are too busy to even think about God and what the Spirit is doing in our lives. This is an invitation to look for the Sacred and share your vision with the Maple Grove community. Keep your eyes and heart open and your camera ready and take photos of where you spy God, not only in creation but through relationships, daily events, times of joy and times of trial. Photos and works of art will be displayed in the Art Gallery and on the We Spy God website. Some photos will also be displayed during Transfiguration Sunday Worship Service. Submit photos (5x7 or 8x10) to the office, submit online, or call Sue Fletcher for more information 614-309-9620. Be sure to include a few lines about where you spy God in the photo! Deadline is February 2, 2017.
