December Merry-Making
We have arrived at "the most wonderful time of the year." Any time that we get to meet with family and friends qualifies as wonderful in my book, and December seems to offer more opportunities for such meetings than most months. Add in the treats we seem compelled to bring in and it's almost like a month-long holiday party at the library! Won't you join in the merry-making? We'd love to see you!
Santa is making his annual visit, and is hoping to see lots of his Green Lake area friends. Elves Linda and Amy will be making pancakes to order (regular and chocolate chip), and there will be applesauce, coffee, orange juice, milk, and seasonal treats. Price for breakfast is $3 per person. Proceeds benefit the Friends of the Library.
The Friends annual Christmas cookie and book sale are happening at the same time as Breakfast with Santa. Books are priced on the tables and cookies are $7/lb box.Take home a delicious assortment of home made treats and find books, movies, and puzzles, for everyone on your gift list!
Snow globes and icicles and polar bears, oh my! Stop at the library after school and get your craft on making a polar bear ornament or your very own snow globe. We could use your help making ornaments for our outdoor Christmas tree, too - how about making a beaded icicle to hang on it? Cool!
Ever wonder what it was like preparing for a holiday visit from Queen Victoria and her family? Margaret Cummins, head housekeeper at Balmoral Castle, joins us at the library to tell us all about it. As portrayed by actress Jessica Michna, Margaret will share stories (and perhaps a few secrets) from the Victorian era. Following Jessica's program, audience members are invited to tea in the main level meeting room.
Need an assist with tracking down some ancestors? Bring your family     history questions or learn how to navigate some online resources with   Margie, our resident genealogy expert. You may be surprised what you find in your family tree!
Ready for a swash-buckling good time? The Princess Bride is thirty years old, one of the most quotable movies ever filmed, and certainly a favorite. See it on the lower level big screen with friends - we'll provide the popcorn.
Do you want to build a snowman? Come on let's go out and play! We're screening Frozen in the main level meeting room. Kids of all ages are welcome. We don't mind if you get carried away afterwards and build a snowman in front of the library while singing...
