Our Annual Report is here! Check out all the ways we've served and empowered folks in our clinics, communities, and beyond!

Knowledge is Power. Every day Women's Health Specialists connects with women and men who call us from all over Northern California and beyond. We share information, give support and provide referrals to thousands of women and men desperate for information and a plan for care. Each year we provide over 35,000 clients with reproductive health services: gynecological exams, abortion, birth control, STI and cancer screening, pregnancy testing and other sexual health services. All are welcome and no one is turned away because they have no insurance coverage.
2017 promises new attacks from Washington. The congress will likely cut federal funds for birth control and reproductive health care for the uninsured. New restrictions will be directed at abortion providers like WHS who also provide family planning services. Without independent clinics, there is really no meaningful access to abortion in the U.S. where two-thirds of abortions are performed by community-based, independent providers. We have done this work for 41 years, without the help of a professional fundraiser, a lobbyist or a national office. We will continue to do so, only with the support from our communities. Your support is needed now more than ever

As the kinks of the Affordable Care Act are worked out, many newly insured or uninsured folks are finding themselves slipping through the cracks when it comes to receiving quality healthcare services. At Women's Health Specialists we take all insurance plans, including MediCal, or use a sliding scale. You do not need a referral or authorization from your primary care provider to come to us!

With growing uncertainty about the future of reproductive rights in the wake of the election, articles are coming out revealing the presence and importance of independent reproductive health clinics like Women's Health Specialists. We were featured in this Huffington Post article, A Quick Guide to Supporting Abortion Providers That Need It Most, which lists independent abortion providers by state.

Additionally, the VICE article titled
Your Local Health Clinic Probably Needs More Help Than Planned Parenthood informs readers that "two-thirds of abortions are performed by independent providers."

Speak Out! Sacramento, an open mic night celebrating a variety of local artists in a safe and open minded space, chose us as their partner non-profit for the month of December. WHS was present at the first event on December 7th, where we had a table of info and volunteer sign-ups and spoke about our specific needs and Speak Out! Sacramento took up a collection of donations for our Sacramento clinic!
We will be present again as presenter and beneficiary at the next December open mic at Shine on Wednesday, December 21st at 8pm! Sign-ups to perform start at 7:30pm. Come perform or enjoy Sacramento's local performers for a good cause: reproductive health care at your local Women's Health Specialists!

Members of Women's Health Specialists and Planned Parenthood joined together for the annual World AIDS Day rally and vigil in Redding. Check out news coverage of the visibility event here

We have been asking clients to give back just $1 to their local WHS clinic, and the response has been overwhelming and uplifting!
You can join the movement and #FightBackGiveBack with a charitable donation to Women's Health Specialists! As a non-profit, donations to WHS are tax-deductible and a donation on behalf of a loved one makes a meaningful gift.

After months of protests in which peaceful demonstrators faced deplorable conditions to protect sacred Lake Oahe, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers blocked plans to build the Dakota Access Pipeline underneath the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe's land. WHS has stood in solidarity with Standing Rock, with some of our leadership and supporters protesting at the site this year, and celebrates this victory!

Next month marks the 44th anniversary of
Roe v. Wade. The Supreme Court case that legalized abortion nationwide seems more precious than ever.
Abortion access is vital to the health and well being of our communities. Fundraise for our future, and enjoy music, feminist friends, and cocktails at your local WHS Celebrate Choice celebration!
