United Way of Richland County
December Newsletter
From the Desk of Dan Varn
The United Way of Richland County is happy to, once again, be able to send you a newsletter of information regarding updates and all the goings on of the agency. It is hard to believe that 2017 is coming to an end. As we reflect back on the year that was, I am proud of the direction this organization is going. Personnel changes allowed us to create our new Manager of Community Impact position, and we are excited about the direction that position will take us. We have had a record year for special events, and the annual campaign is strong.

As we enter into 2018 we look forward to continue serving the community and raising the awareness of the great programs and services we invest in throughout Richland County. We continue to be blessed by such a giving community. Thank you all for all that you do, and I hope you have a blessed holiday season.

New Employee Announcement!
We are pleased to introduce Katie Crall, United Way’s new Manager of Community Impact!

Katie is a native of Crawford County, Ohio and brings 10 years of marketing & non-profit experience. After graduating from Wynford High School she went on to receive a B.S. in Apparel Merchandise & Product Development and Marketing from Bowling Green State University.

Katie developed a love for the non-profit sector as a volunteer and board member for the Humane Society of Crawford County. As well as her years of work with The American Cancer Society. This experience gave her a deep appreciation for how nonprofits seek to improve the quality of life in communities; one program at a time.

Big Red Bookshelf Updates
So far for the 2017 year we have placed 3,850 books in Richland County!!

For those who do not know; the Big Red Bookshelf project places bright red bookshelves stocked with gently-used or new books appropriate for children from birth - 3rd grade in the community where families with young children visit. These books have been donated by community members. Children are invited to take a book home to keep and share!
