Special December Hours

CHRISTMAS: The main library and the Farms branch will be closed on Thursday, December 24 and Friday, December 25 for the Christmas holiday. Both libraries will resume normal hours on Saturday, December 26.   
 
NEW YEAR’S: both library locations will close at 4 PM on Thursday, December 31, and will be closed all day on New Year's Day, Friday, January 1. Both locations will resume normal hours on Saturday, January 2. 

Give Old Books New Life as Ornaments

Thursday, December 3 from 6 - 8 PM
Sohier Room, Main Library
Get into the holiday spirit and enjoy some hot chocolate while you give old books a new life as ornaments. No talent necessary. Free; no registration required. This program is geared toward adults and young adults (ages 14+), as some of the tools we'll be using will not be appropriate for children. Handicapped accessible. Questions? Introduction to 3D Printing

Thursday, December 17 from 6:30 - 8:30 PM
Sohier Room, Main Library
Registration required. Join library director Patricia Cirone for an introduction to the basics of working with the library's MakerBot Replicator. No previous experience needed. The workshop is required if you wish to use the printer independently. A sampling of design software basics and downloading is also covered. Laptops/devices welcome; open to ages 10 +. Holiday Music with Joe Boccia

Monday, December 21 from 10 - 11 AM
Sohier Room, Main Library
Join Beverly's own Joe Boccia for a concert of holiday songs and carols both traditional and modern, performed on Joe's Korg TR-61 synthesizer. Joe carefully composes each song's arrangement by selecting from thousands of possible sound effects. Prepare to be delighted and moved by the variety of sounds and moods Joe creates. Free and open to adults. Light refreshments; handicapped accessible. No signup needed.

Save the Date: 20th Annual Teen Poetry Contest
Calling all teen poets! Starting Monday, January 4, 2016, the library will accept entries from local teens in grades 6 through 12 for our Annual Teen Poetry Contest. Complete information including rules, submission form, and other details will be posted to our Teens page by the opening date.

  • Pizza and a Movie: Ant-Man, Friday, December 11 from 12 - 2:15 PM, Sohier Room
    Celebrate no school day by joining us for this film on the big screen. Free pizza!

Bring the whole family to celebrate the American Pie Council's National Pie Day with story sharing led by Beverly storyteller Tony Toledo, followed by an extravagant "Pie Potluck"! It's a great night of food, fun and friendship. Keep a lookout for additional details in our January newsletter and on our website and Facebook page. It's free and open to all, so we hope you'll mark your calendar and join us!

LEGO Club
The library is starting a LEGO Club for kids in grades K - 5! To support this endeavor we're accepting donations of gently used LEGOs (no Duplos please!). Please bring donations to the Children’s Room. Thank you!  And we hope you'll join us this month for:
  • "Singing & Signing with Wendy & Vicki," Wednesday, December 2, 10:30 AM - all ages, no signup needed. 
  • MaryBeth Maes - "Music, Movement and More," Tuesday, December 8, 10:30 AM - for ages 0 - 5, no signup needed. 
  • "Musical Mornings with Miz Liz," Saturday, December 12 @ 10 AM (no registration required)

Vibrant paintings in pastel and oil by Teri Gambardella, featuring landscapes, portraits, and still life. Teri paints quickly to capture the immediacy of color, light, and shadow in her landscapes and portraits.
