St. Paul's Church

December 30, 2015

When they had seen him, they spread the word concerning what had been told them about this child, and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them. (Luke 2:17-18)

Dear St. Paul's,

Jesus Christ is born!  He's spreading love, joy and peace everywhere.  I pray that your Christmas celebration continues with great jubilation.

We've had an amazing year at St. Paul's, and I'm so grateful that the Incarnation of Jesus is very real in this community.  We've seen the Lord move powerfully in 2015, and I want to offer just a few highlights.  When the Surf Club closed, the Lord opened the door for us to worship at the Garden Club.  The new location and the leadership of that organization have been a huge blessing to us.

The Lord provided us with opportunities to serve Him on mission trips to Belize, India, and Jamaica.  Our small church, just over 4 years old, is already having an impact for Jesus Christ all over the world!

The Lord provided crucial  parking agreements for the Flamevine project, and you all have been incredibly faithful in your financial giving.  The Lord brought together just the right team of gifted people to oversee the planning, design and the construction of the new church in the center of the village beach community.  In 2016 I trust that by God's grace the building will progress rapidly, with an expected completion in Summer 2017.

The Lord continues to inspire Robin Hanson and Marjorie Hoder to powerfully share Jesus with our kids through the Skimmers ministry as well as Survivor Camp.  The kids are also serving by raising funds and collecting supplies for other kids in need.

Betsy Whisman and the Healing Prayer Team are fervently praying for the sick.  And those suffering with physical, emotional and spiritual infirmities are experiencing the healing touch of God.  It's absolutely beautiful to see the Holy Spirit work.

And finally, it's been wonderful for me to witness the love you all have for one another-whether that's on Sunday mornings at the passing of the peace, at coffee hour, or at Simple Suppers.  Besides Jesus Himself, that is the greatest gift to me.

I can't wait to see what the Lord will do in 2016!

Gratefully in Christ,

Pr. Jon

In the United States today, as in all Western countries, there are growing Muslim communities.  Increasingly many of us have Muslim neighbors and coworkers.  Moreover, radical Islam is on the move around the globe in ways we were woken up to on 9/11 and are constantly reminded of in global news stories.  These developments provide the church with many evangelistic, apologetic, social, and political challenges.

This event is designed for families, students, churches, small groups, and anyone interested in the questions raised by the interaction between Islam and Christianity. Please join us in praying for a wonderful time of spiritual renewal and greater understanding of our Muslim friends.

Skimmers
Skimmers will resume next Wednesday, January 6, 2016 at 6:00 p.m. at Bethel Creek.  All children, ages 9 and up, are invited to participate.  We will be resuming our study of Revelation.

St. Paul's Vero Beach and St. Andrews Gainesville are planning a ten-day pilgrimage to the Holy Land tentatively scheduled for October of 2016.  The trip will be led by Bishop Ron Kuykendall, Pr. Jon Robbins, and D. Lorne Coyle.  There will be availability for up to 40 participants.  Because of Lorne's extensive experience in planning trips of this kind, you can feel confident that everything will be arranged to ensure your safety and comfort.  This is a very exciting opportunity, and we hope that you will pray about joining us on this life-changing journey to the land where Jesus walked.   Please contact Norma in the church office if you are interested and would like additional information as it becomes available.

SIMPLE SUPPERS
These informal meals, held once a month, give you the opportunity to get to know each other better.  Let us know if you want to join in by calling Dean or Christine at 234-2398 or the church office or by writing "simple supper" on the friendship form at church.
