What led me to teach Pilates?
I've had a lifelong passion for movement education leading me to the profession of Physical Therapy, certification in the Feldenkrais Method, Shroth scoliosis training, and currently Polestar Pilates training. Polestar Pilates has a strong movement integration component which retrains client's posture, movement and body awareness while building strength in a dynamic, functional, holistic manner. I'm thrilled to bring this education to my clients as they pursue their goals in improving their health and quality of life.

What led me to Pilates?
I was first introduced to Pilates during my years in the dance world - a performer and educator - in order to reorganize and re pattern the body for efficient, effective, and pain free movement. From there I’ve studied and shared the latest research in brain and neural development, nutrition, injury prevention, effective coaching techniques, and fascial mobility while continuing to teach dance and movement. I’m excited to share Pilates as the natural confluence of healing modalities, mindfulness, and the amazing moving body.
FRIDAY, DECEMBER 15 - SHOP WITH A PURPOSE DAY
On Friday, December 15, Pilates MN will donate 5% of Therapeutic Massage and Health and Wellness Coaching purchases to IOCP . Last year 33 business raised $8741 on Shop With Purpose Day. Funds raised go to those needing assistance breaking down barriers on housing, jobs, childcare, transportation, educational opportunity, food and connection with community life and resources.
ReSolutions 2018 - FREE INFO SESSION ON FRIDAY 1/5 @1pm
Resolve to make your 2018 goals meaningful by joining us in the New Year to focus on personal development and growth in a group setting! Guided by a Mayo Certified Health and Wellness Coach, we’ll use a process where the coach facilitates client-identified goals.

Explore the latest in the human development field with this empowering class where you’ll develop a vision, explore the 6 stages of change, and set SMARTER goals.

Week #1 (January 5 @1pm) is a free informational meeting. If you would like to come to this please let us know at the front desk.

FOUNDATION TRAINING RETURNS JANUARY 9th
FT FUNDAMENTALS - Tuesdays 8pm 01/09/18 - 02/13/18 - Learning the fundamentals of Foundation Training to improve posture, reduce pain and accelerate performance in the gym, sport and life! Great for someone who wants to learn how to take their physical health into their own hands and gain control of their body and its movement patterns. Notice and improvement with mobility, strength and quality of movement  - $180 for 6 week program.

FT INTERMEDIATE - Tuesdays 7pm 01/09/18 - 02/13/18 - Expanding not the Fundamentals material and introducing some of the more complex movements. Great for someone who took the fundamentals course in October and would like to dive deeper into this work! If you did not take the Fundamentals course but think you want to do the intermediate instead of the Fundamentals class or if the time class works better for you, please contact Dr. Matt at drmatt@thecenterofmvmt.com and we can discuss some options and decide the best class for you!- $180 for 6 week program.

ABOUT FOUNDATION TRAINING - Foundation Training is a simple and effective corrective exercise modality that brings the body to its full potential by anchoring the pelvis, decompressing the spine and integrating muscle chains. It's a re-wiring of the poor patterns ingrained in our bodies over a lifetime that were causing pain, deterioration and inefficiency. It's a way for your body to feel really, really good. 

There are many nuances to the program that work to realign and activate the whole body. Foundation Training trains you to be strong in proper posture with proper movement patterns so that strong, pain-free movement becomes natural and normal. These movements are not a replacement for anything else, rather a system that you can layer onto any activity you do whether that is Pilates, Yoga, Hiking, playing with your kids or sitting a desk. When the body moves well, it feels well!
NEW! HEALTH AND WELLNESS COACHING AT PILATES MN
Health and Wellness Coaching is a partnership between client and coach designed to facilitate self-discovery and personal growth. Our Mayo Certified Wellness Coach provides support for client defined goals to achieve a higher level of well-being through visioning, goal setting, and accountability. This journey empowers clients while supporting lasting change for elevated levels of contentment.
 
Our Wellness packages are based on 2 one-hour initial consultations followed by 3 half-hour sessions for a total of 5 sessions (3.5 hours) over a 6-week period. We can meet at the studio or can consult telephonically based on client choice. Included:
 
·       Customized plan based on client vision
·       Explore the 6 stages of change
·       Develop weekly SMART goals
·       Identify resources to support success
·       Discuss habits conducive to a higher quality of life
·       Discover effective strategies to improve resiliency
 
Carol Schwarzkopf is a Mayo Clinic Certified Health and Wellness Coach in the emerging field of client centered wellness coaching. With a focus on improved quality of life, health and wellness coaching uses motivational interviewing as an effective way to help people change. Drawing on each person’s individual strengths and vision, the coach is the guide as clients identify goals, define action, and leverage the results for lasting change. The 6 Week Health and Wellness Coaching package is $199. Stop at the front desk to schedule.
