BE PART OF THE HARWOOD!
Give to the Annual Campaign -
Every gift counts
Did you know that, while the University of New Mexico generously supports 45% of the Harwood Museum of Art's annual operating budget, the museum must raise the other 55% every year? And that we must raise 100% of the funds for exhibitions and educational programs? We're committed to continuing to engage our community with meaningful arts experiences, but we can only do that in partnership with you. Please consider contributing to the Harwood's $19,500 Annual Campaign goal with a gift at whatever level is comfortable for you. Every gift counts. Donations are processed through the University of New Mexico Foundation, and may be made online at this link or by sending a check payable to "Harwood Museum of Art/UNMF" to: Harwood Museum of Art Annual Campaign 238 Ledoux Street Taos, NM 87571 Thank you for your role in helping the Harwood "bring Taos arts to the world, and world arts to Taos." |
LIGHTING LEDOUX
Saturday, December 7
5:00-7:00 p.m.
|
Father Winter in the
Arthur Bell Auditorium
|
Join the museums, galleries, and boutiques of Ledoux Street for this beloved holiday tradition. The blocked-off street, located one block southwest of Taos Plaza, will be open to pedestrians only, who will be lit up and warmed by the luminarias (bonfires) blazing up and down the street, as they stroll from farolito-lit gallery to museum to store partaking of cookies, hot chocolate and hot cider provided by various venues. As always, Father Winter will be greeting children at the Harwood Museum of Art.
Feel like joining a parade? Meet us at Taos Plaza at 5:00 p.m. and follow Maria the Fire Truck down Ledoux Street as she delivers Father Winter to the Harwood Museum of Art. No reservation needed - we're in the mood for spontaneous celebrations this year! As noted in this chronology of the Harwood, December 7 marks 90 years to the day that the Harwood Foundation's Articles of Incorporation were filed with the State Corporation Commission. We can think of no better way to conclude our 90th anniversary celebration than with this joyous community gathering.
Many thanks to the Town of Taos, the Taos Arts & Cultural District, the Taos Police Department, the Taos Volunteer Fire Department, and the large team of fabulous volunteers who make this annual event possible. Interested in volunteering for Lighting Ledoux? It's not too late - we still need help! Contact us at [email protected]

FROM THE DIRECTOR

Susan Longhenry

Dear Friends, Take a deep breath and experience the joy of the holiday season! Sure enough, it's here and the Harwood is ready to celebrate with you. In the midst of this busy month, sneak in for a moment of alone time while you reflect upon our exhibitions, bring a friend, or - best of all - stop by with your out-of-town guests to share our beautiful museum with them. At this time of year, we definitely believe in "The more, the merrier!"
We're wrapping up our 90th anniversary celebrations this month with Lighting Ledoux, a beloved holiday tradition that - this year - falls on the 90th anniversary of the day that the Harwood Foundation's Articles of Incorporation were filed with the State Corporation Commission. This fall has been a time of reflection on the Harwood's rich past, its dynamic present, and its bright future. Our visitors have been raving about our 90th anniversary exhibitions, which so beautifully bring the Harwood's history to life. If you haven't had a chance to see those exhibitions, don't worry - they'll be on view through January 26.
From the Harwood's family to yours, Happy Holidays! Warm Regards,
Susan Longhenry
