It's hard to believe that there is only one month remaining in 2012. If you have unfinished tasks for this year, you better get busy - January 2013 is a mere four weeks away.
Please keep in mind that you can be a part of improving this holiday season for someone else by dropping off a food donation to the Maumelle Rotary Club or a toy at the Maumelle Fire Station (Murphy Drive). The Maumelle Rotary Club, in partnership with the Maumelle Fire Department, will be conducting their annual Christmas project this month. Members will be collecting food and toys to give to needy families in the Maumelle area. If you want to be a part of this project, please contact Stuart Norton at 217-5900.
The elections are behind of us for two more years. We all need to support those who have been elected, whether our candidate won or not. We need to voice our opinions and let them know how we feel on issues, but we need to do it respectfully.
The Strategic Planning Steering Committee continues to meet and to work on the "Move Maumelle Forward" plans with our consultants. A public meeting will be scheduled early next year, once all the information is assimilated.
If you like to fish, Lake Valencia has recently been stocked with 1000 catchable rainbow trout. All you need is a rod and reel, some trout bait and most importantly a fishing license, if you are sixteen years of age or older. Lake Valencia is easily accessible for fishing from the bank; however, boats are not allowed.
This newsletter is designed to keep you informed about events in Maumelle and what City officials and City departments are doing. If there is something specific going on in the City and you want or need more information in order to understand it better, please contact us. We want to share details with you. I look forward to seeing more and more of our residents at City Council meetings, Planning Commission meetings and other public forums.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
