Time for End of Year Donations!
We're ready for your end-of-year donations. Get a head start on those New Year resolutions and clear out items you no longer need. If you aren't sure if we can use something you'd like to donate, check the donation guidelines on our website or give us a call. Store locations and hours are on our website and at the end of this newsletter. You can drop off items during store hours, until 4:30 p.m. each day.

Check 'Em Off, Green

The Clark County Habitat for Humanity Store will host a booth at the Check em' Off Green event on December 13th from 10 am to 4 pm at the Marshall Center, 1009 E McLoughlin Blvd in Vancouver. This event is your one stop to find locally made green gifts for family and friends. We will be selling our ever-so- popular repurposed lumber Christmas trees. Your list will not look so long after visiting this event. See you then!

As it gets close to the end of the year we've been reflecting on what we've accomplished. We've done some sharing about that recently on our Facebook page. This photo shows the new Community Impact board at the Portland ReStore. It's made out of salvaged materials. Have you seen it? It says we:

● Funded 9 homes last year

● Diverted 4,391 tons of

   materials

● Have raised over $3 million!

Holiday Closures
All three stores will be closed from Wednesday, December 24 through Saturday, December 27 to give our staff and volunteers time off to enjoy the holidays. We open again - regular hours, on Monday, December 29. We will also be closed January 1, 2015. We wish you and your family Happy Holidays!
We've Got Knobs
Lynda and Jessica.

Thanks to Western Pacific Building Materials, we have knobs, knobs and more knobs! We'd like to send a huge shout out to Western Pacific for this generous donation. We truly appreciate our long-term partnership and the support they continue to offer us.

Western Pacific donated eight full pallets of beautiful new door knobs, cabinet pulls and miscellaneous hardware pieces to our three stores. We estimate that we have close to 6,000 individual pieces. Not only will these items be sold in our ReStores to raise funds for Habitat's homebuilding efforts,  they will also get installed in several Habitat homes.

We'd like to thank Jeff Johnson, Aaron Prettyman and everyone at Western Pacific for their help in facilitating this donation.

Our New Building Material Recovery Team
Cory, Anna and Michelle
Our Building Material Recovery (BMR) team is now complete with the addition of two new members this month. In September, we welcomed Cory Good who will be completing his first AmeriCorps term with BMR.  Cory joins us from Brighten, Colorado and says his favorite part of the job thus far is "seeing how the items we bring in benefit others."

Anna Pasterz has joined us after completing a graduate program in Oregon Leadership in Sustainability at the University of Oregon in Eugene. She will serve as an AmeriCorps VISTA member for the next year. In this role, she will help support BMR through outreach and planning. Anna looks forward to applying the knowledge and skills she brings from her studies, as well as learning more about building material recovery.

Michelle Elmquist is our new BMR field supervisor. She served previously as a construction AmeriCorps member in Seattle before seeking more education in woodworking. She has also worked locally with a contractor on construction and remodeling projects. Michelle is excited about joining the Habitat team and helping to reduce the waste generated in construction and remodeling projects.
