FLOCO® wins new modules through the partnership with Repsol Sinopec

Oil companies have achieved relevant results on the economic performance of offshore field development projects through the expert system FLOCO®, a technology developed by the Brazilian company Deep Seed Solutions. In a partnership with Repsol Sinopec Brasil - one of the leading energy companies in exploration and production of oil and gas in Brazil – Deep Seed presented the results of the “Project Phasing Module”, one of the four advanced modules developed together with the oil company, in the technical session “The Digital Optimization of Offshore Exploration and Production: The Next 50 Years”, during OTC 2018 Houston (USA), held between April 30 and May 3, 2018.

This event marks the official launch of four advanced modules of the software FLOCO®, which automatically generates offshore oil and gas production system concepts, based on a wide range of equipment, systems and construction resources available in this industry. The advanced modules were developed with the objective of generating concepts based on the extensive use of subsea processing, active heating, chemical injection and project phasing.

The technical and financial capacity of the “Project Phasing Module” was demonstrated in the paper "Integrated Design Computational Model Applied to O&G Offshore Field Development", written by Leandro Basilio, Celso Noronha, Matheus Passos and Débora Calaza (Deep Seed Solutions) and Anderson L. da Nova and Roland Daly (Repsol Sinopec Brasil).
"Further academic demonstrations of the advanced modules should take place in international conferences and forums worldwide, that is part of the strategic plan of the company to technically chancel all its products”, says Leandro Basilio, COO at Deep Seed.
“The four advanced modules were developed in a partnership with Repsol Sinopec Brasil, with the support of the National, Oil, Natural Gas and Biofuels Agency (ANP), what proves the innovation capacity of the Brazilian companies in the development of new technologies”, affirms Deep Seed’s CTO, Celso Noronha.
“Comparing and contrasting different engineering solutions for offshore field developments requires a holistic approach, taking into account not only the subsea system architecture but also evaluating how its changes propagate throughout the overall offshore production system, including at the reservoir level, otherwise the benefit of applying technologies such as Subsea Processing is hardly ever realized”, says Research & Development Engineer at Repsol Sinopec, Anderson Leocadio da Nova. “I believe the Advanced Modules we have developed in partnership with Deep Seed Solutions are stepping stones in streamlining the process of generating these trade spaces which in turn allows for faster and more consistent engineering assessments”, highlights the Engineer.
