Meet Mateo
Three-year-old Mateo is the youngest of three boys. He loves pizza, Halloween, Target, Toy Story, and a good party. When he gets older he wants to play football, just like his big brother. Mateo may be small, but he has a mighty big heart. Just last year, he was growing out his hair to donate to an organization that makes wigs for children with cancer. In the process of growing out his own hair, he was diagnosed with cancer. Mateo had always been a healthy child, so when his parents heard that their sweet baby boy was not only sick, but had cancer, they were devastated. His mom’s first question to the doctors was, “Is my son going to live?” The doctors said, “We can’t tell you that. We don’t know.”

Do you have the Heart of a Hero?

“Texas” means friend, and that is exactly what you have been to our families. Because of your support, we served over 500 families and granted over $400,000 in financial assistance in 2017.

This holiday season we have a BIG Texas-size goal to raise $100,000 to help 135 families with a child battling cancer in the Lone Star State. We cannot do it without you.
Just as Mateo was being a hero for children with cancer, you can be a hero for him and the thousands of families like his, as they battle childhood cancer. We cannot do it without your help.

Today families battling cancer need us more than ever. Each day 46 children in the U.S. are diagnosed with cancer. In Texas alone, 1200 children are diagnosed with cancer each year. Even in the best situation, cancer is hard on a family – emotionally, physically, and financially.

You can help these families battle childhood cancer, the disease trying to take their children, so they do not have to fight alone.
