"Deepening the Sage Within"

Our Goal :
Sage-ing is about becoming a spiritually radiant, socially responsible elder.

Please join us for this weekend retreat that offers the opportunity to dive into the principles and practices described by SI's founder, Rabbi Zalman Shacter-Shalomi. These are: to age consciously by facing our fears, uncovering the wisdom of life experiences, healing wounds, forgiving ourselves and others, and charting a path forward that involves passing on a legacy, serving as an elder committed to healing the planet, and facing mortality with dignity and grace.

Participants will be guided in a process by Certified Sage-ing Leaders to do the inner work of aging in a safe and nurturing environment, in the company of peers. In Rabbi Zalman’s words, we hope to effect “a conscious transformation of the downward arc of aging... into the upward arc of expanded consciousness.”

  • Professionals and care-givers who work with elders
  • Clergy, spiritual directors, social workers, hospice workers
  • All persons interested in exploring a new paradigm of the life cycle as described in the best-selling book, "From Age-ing to Sage-ing" by Rabbi Zalman Schacter-Schalomi. Please read before the workshop!

Our materials are not specific to any religious discipline, but enhance spiritual maturity for persons who embrace any faith or humanistic practice. This workshop fulfills the prerequisite for enrolling in Certified Sage-ing Leadership (CSL) training.
Certified Faculty :
Pat Lewis, a Certified Sage-ing Leader (CSL, Seattle), has offered Sage-ing workshops since 2000, and leads workshops and retreats for a variety of groups. An educator by background, Pat has worked with elders in a variety of ways for 30 years, particularly in the area of spirituality. She has a business called "Age-ing with Wisdom®." Pat is a founding member of Wider Horizons, a new Virtual Village .

Mary Anne Ingenthron (CSL, Davis CA) has been been facilitating Sage-ing Workshops since 2012 and is also a Certified Legacy Writing Facilitator and co-chair of Sage-ing International. She currently hosts monthly Wisdom Circles and Elder Spirituality Circles on Sage-ing topics in Davis, CA and beyond. Her professional background was as an educator and arts council director and cultural planner. She is a Stephen Minister and has trained as an Interfaith Spiritual Director.
Workshop Fees :
Course tuition: US-$300 after March 20; we provide a 10% early-bird discount of US-$270 if payment is received online or by mail by March 20.
