Presenter: Suzanne Thomassen-Krauss, Senior Textile Conservator, National Museum of American History. In 2012, the United States is commemorating the 200th anniversary of the War of 1812. At the Delaware Public Archives, this special program about the Star-Spangled Banner, (the flag that flew over Fort McHenry during the British bombardment) will be presented by the Chief Conservator for the project at the Smithsonian Institution. Included in this presentation will be information about the history of the flag, the actual treatment process, and the efforts of the Smithsonian to preserve it in a custom designed display. | |

Participants will explore dramatic structure and then through discussion and improvisational theatre games will concentrate on the concept of conflict. Each participant will write an original dramatic or comedic character monologue based on a portrait chosen from the artists library of culturally, racially and age diverse pictures. The workshop will be taught by Nancy B. Lynch who taught drama at Ursuline Academy for 15 years. She has directed for the Wilmington Drama League Chrysalis Players and the Delaware Theatre Companys Young Playwrights Festival. |
