Derby Day Socks
Designed by LoBug for The Unique Sheep

derbydayTomorrow is Derby Day! If you live in the southern US, especially anywhere near Kentucky, you probably already know this, but if not let me explain that Derby Day is the first Saturday in May when the Kentucky Derby horse race is run. Several weeks of parties and events lead up to the famous race and the other two Triple Crown races occur throughout the spring months to follow. In certain parts of the south, including Lexington, KY where I live, Derby Day and the events surrounding it are a highlight of the spring season.

Designer Laurel Coombs (LoBug) came up with this striking sock pattern to celebrate the even and tderbydayhe history of horse racing. 50% of sales of this pattern and/or kit will be donated to The Excellor Fund which rescues and rehomes aged and injured race horses. Select your colors based on the horse you think will win (or whose colors you think look nicest!), put on a fancy hat and pour yourself a mint julip while we watch the races!
