Join us at Dempsey's for lunch while earning continuing education credits!  This comprehensive educational program is focused on reading and interpreting hardware submittals. After completion of this course, participants will be able to; identify the basic components of an architectural door opening, identify the nomenclature of commercial wood doors, understand what information a supplier is trying to convey in hardware submittals, and apply knowledge of hardware shop drawings and submittals to increase accuracy and save time in the approval process.

NEW: DIVERSITY AND INCLUSION POLICY FOR AIA COLUMBUS
We are pleased to announce that the AIA Columbus Board of Directors have approved a Diversity and Inclusion Policy at the April Board Meeting. We have adopted an official statement for our chapter that reads:
In order to "encourage and celebrate the contributions of those who bring diverse experiences, views, and needs into the design process," per AIA National, it is AIA Columbus policy that awards juries, speaker panels, exhibitions, and Chapter programs as well as events and activities that represent the chapter to the public - endeavor to be diverse and inclusive according to AIA definitions.  AIA Columbus will encourage diversity participation and inclusiveness on the Board of Directors and other positions within the organization. The diversity and inclusion efforts will not be limited to any opportunities explicitly described here and will include any and all programs that further support the efforts of diversity within the profession and AIA Columbus.
We're excited to be taking this step towards focusing on the importance of inclusion and equality within the profession. Read More Here.

MEMORIALS FOR THE FUTURE COMPETITION
Sponsored by the National Park Service and National Capital Planning Commission in collaboration with Van Allen Institute, this competition seeks alternatives to Washington DC's traditional approach to commemoration. Three teams will receive a $15,000 stipend to participate in a research and design process to re-envision how we create memorials. Multidisciplinary team submissions are encouraged. ARCHITECTURAL AND ENGINEERING VOLLEYBALL LEAGUE

It is time to start rallying your volleyball teams for this year's AIA Architectural and Engineering Volleyball League organized by SMBH! This coed grass league will begin matches in June and continue through the summer. The games are all on Thursday nights at 7pm at the field in front of the SMBH offices. The league is open to architecture firms, engineering firms and building trades/construction companies.
