Sacré-Coeur, Acrylic on Panel, 108 x 64 inches

We just received an enormous crate from Berlin with these terrific large scale paintings by Peter Hoffer.
SACRÉ-COEUR, featuring a model he has named St. Genevieve, after the patron saint of Paris,  is almost 9 feet high. The architecture series is 8 feet in length. He has used unusual materials to great effect here. The works are painted on linen using clay pigments and spray paint, and the resulting texture is masterful.

Windfall No. 1, Applewood , 10.5 12 x 8 inches
Windfall Series Installation, Applewood , 10.5 12 x 8 inches
This series of 8 new abstract sculptures by Shayne Dark is made from applewood burls collected from apple orchards in Prince Edward County. "Many of the local apple orchardists were paid by the government to cut down their apple trees in order to control the apple market," says Shayne. "This meant perfectly healthy mature apple trees were destroyed for the commodity markets during a period where the trend is to eat local. I collected these burls, stripped off the bark and stored them for a number of years to allow these dense burls to dry out. My original intent was to fill the natural cracks, sand smooth and paint the burls in a solid color. However after spending time repairing the cracking in the dried burls he found a beauty in the repair. I was reminded of the Japanese art of fixing broken pottery Kintsugi. The philosophy that treats breakage and repair as part of the history of an object, rather than disguising the repair."

The 8 pieces vary in size and price - ranging from $4000-8000 each, $45,000 for all 8 in the series.

Galaxy, Acrylic and Crayon on Canvas, 65 x 35 inches
Reverie, acrylic and Crayon on Canvas, 60 x 60 inches and Diapason, Acrylic and Crayon on Canvas, 72 x 48 inches
Alice Teichert is at the top of her game. Galleries in Europe, New York, and Canada are vying for her work - and we are very glad she has her studio just down the road from our gallery. This new series of paintings, GlyphGraph, is exuberant, rich layers of vivid colour pulled across the canvas. 7 paintings arrived last week and can be seen here.

Iceberg, Bronze and Granite, 11 x 34 x 7 inches
Iceberg, Bronze and Granite, 11 x 54 x 7 inches
We just picked up three new sculptures from Neil. His kayaks are hand built directly in wax, creating a hull and deck shape in direct proportion to the length and volume of the stone. The profile of the vessel relates to the lines of the stone, as each stone has its own shape and movement. They are then cast in bronze. We currently have selected sculptures by Clifford, ranging in price from $7000-12000.

Down By The River, Acrylic on Birch, 48 x 48 inches
Rod Prouse graduated from the Ontario College of Art in1968. He lives beside Georgian Bay and his colourful and upbeat works are inspired by its wind, rocks and water. Prouse has had over 30 solo exhibitions, and his work is shown across Canada, the U.S.A., England and Germany.

These "outbursts of happiness" range from $2400-$6000.

Floating World, Acrylic on Canvas, 48 x 60 inches

Probability A, Solid Glass and Metal, 46 x 108 x 4 inches

This magnificent glass wall sculpture by John Robinson is still looking for a permanent home. We have this piece in amber, and a similar but larger piece in a cool blue. They were featured at the Canadian Clay and Glass Gallery in 2014.

Nebular, Acrylic on Mylar, 48 x 35.5 inches

Don Maynard just moved to Prince Edward County, joining the growing number of remarkably talented artist living in this region. His new works on mylar are painterly, fluid pops of colour - and are presented in a fresh format. He is mounting them inside an acrylic box that tightly fits the work - creating a beautiful object that seems to float on the wall.
