Leadership Fairfax Thanks Training Futures Intern for Service

Elaheh Hosseinpour has been a dedicated intern in the Leadership Fairfax offices for the last five weeks. As a part of the nationally recognized workforce development program, Northern Virginia Family Service's Training Futures, Elaheh joined our offices to learn about office management, business communications and community involvement, and in return gave us much needed support. 

Training Futures also provides training in office etiquette, computer skills and records management with the goal of helping unemployed and under-employed individuals secure a rewarding career. 
 
So what's next? Elaheh plans to study accounting and continue to serve her community. Thank you for all of your help, Elaheh!

Know an inspiring leader who solves problems through innovation, makes lasting community connections and embodies servant leadership?

These awards honor local leaders for their commitment to community, innovation and inspiration. Honorees are nominated by Leadership Fairfax alumni and fellow community leaders. Awards will be bestowed in five categories, acknowledging contributions across all sectors - public, private and non-profit.

Servant Leadership In Action - Photos from Recent Program Day 

LFI, ELI and LLP explored servant leadership, diversity and managing projects while at University of Virginia Falls Church Campus at the most recent program day on October 15, 2015. 
 
The classes united at the beginning of the day, and then separated to dig deep into their specific content for the year. 

Speakers included Luby Ismail, Joan Fletcher, LFI '09 Michael Sands, Suzanne Keating, LFI '98 and Colin Callahan, LFI '04.

Special recognition goes to Stacy Yike, LFI'14 for being the first alu m to reply. She's currently serving as an LFI Team Advisor and on the Consolidated Community Funding Pool Selection Advisory Committee. 

Stacy also works with National Capitol Region - Arlington - Year Up which connects young leaders with internship opportunities throughout the Northern Virginia Region.

Lifetime Leaders Looking for an Encore? LLP Spring Program Dates Now Available.

The Lifeime Leaders Program (LLP) connects and invites established leaders near retirement or already retired to learn about encore opportunities in the community, engage in meaningful personal growth and create a plan for leveraging their skills and abilities in service to their community.

Calling Volunteers for Carriage Rides! 

Join Leadership Fairfax on December 19 from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Reston Town Center to manage carriage rides for all ages. 

Each year, the Reston Town Center provides local non-profits the opportunity to earn money for their organizations by managing carriage and train rides in celebration of the holidays. We need 8 dedicated volunteers to make this fun opportunity a success!

Transform I-66 Outside the Beltway Project - Informational Sessions Coming Up
 
 
The Northern Virginia Transportation Alliance (NVTA) is hosting three informational sessions regarding the  Transform 66 Outside the Beltway project. The sessions will showcase NVTA's preferred alternative for the 25-mile upgrade to I-66 between U.S. Route 15/Haymarket and I-495. 
 
VDOT will also be on site to provide information. 
 
Sessions will last from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. - Presentations start at 7 p.m.:
