Feel the 'Vibe on Main' this Saturday
Festival kicks off at 2pm with music starting at 4pm on Main St.
We are just days away from the debut of Novi's premier summer festival - Vibe on Main!

Festival-goers will be treated to a variety of food choices from area restaurants, a beer/wine beverage garden and mini bazaar featuring unique products from local vendors.

The family-friendly fun kicks off at 2pm on Saturday, Aug. 13 with the music acts taking the stage at 4pm.

Blues queen Thornetta Davis headlines the music acts and will take the stage at 10pm. She is preceded by Monsieur Guillaume & His Zydeco Hepcats (4pm), Ben Sharkey (5:30pm), Nadir Omowale featuring Caleb Gutierrez (7pm) and Ryan Dillaha & The Miracle Men (8:30pm).

There is no cost to attend the festival, but patrons 21 and over will have to pay $5 to enter the beer and wine tent.

Two dates remain for Sizzling Summer fun
Cirque Amongus performs Aug. 17 & Inside Out movie Aug. 19
The Sizzling Summer Art Series has lived up to its name, with performances that bring the heat and keep people coming back for more.

But the fun ends soon with just one Wonderful Wednesday and one Family Fun Friday remaining.

Cirque Amongus closes out Wednesdays at 10:30am on Aug. 17, while the "Inside Out" movie caps off Fridays at 8pm on Aug. 19.

As always, performances are free and the entire family is invited.

Watch 'The Good Dinosaur' on the Shore

Finish your summer with with a concert and movie on Aug. 30 on the shores of Walled Lake.

The event takes place at Pavilion Shore Park and starts at 6pm. The Tringali Brothers take the stage at 6:30pm, followed by the movie "The Good Dinosaur" at 8:20pm. 

Family-friendly activities include face painting, bounce house, giveaways and much more. A food truck also will be on site. Get there early for the best seats!
Flashback to the 50's at Senior Sock Hop
Throwback Thursday 50's Sock Hop 6-10pm on September 29
Flashback to the fabulous fifties and make some new friends at the Throwback Thursday 1950's Senior Sock Hop at the Novi Civic Center.

The event, which takes place from 6-10pm on Sept. 29, is a community collaboration event with Novi joining forces with Livonia, Milford, Northville and South Lyon. Guests are encouraged to wear their favorite 1950's outfit (yes, that means poodle skirts, bobby socks and rolled up jeans) and be ready to dance.

The sock hop also will feature bubble gum, hula hoop, costume and dance contests, music from the Dancing D.J.'s, food and more!

Tickets are $7 and are available at the Older Adult Services office inside the Novi Civic Center. For more information, call 248.347.0414.
Dance classes offered for all ages, abilities
Opportunities abound for those looking to learn to dance 
No matter your age, Novi Parks has a dance class for you.

Starting with the little ones, Baby Ballet is coming this fall for 2-3 year olds and their parents. Classes are Wednesdays from 4:15-4:45pm starting on Sept. 21.

Other classes include Princess Ballet for 3-6 year olds on Mondays from 5:05-5:45pm starting Sept. 19, Tap and Toes for 4-6 year olds on Mondays from 4:15-5pm starting on Sept. 19, and Beginner Jazz for 4-7 year olds on Wednesdays from 4:45-5:30pm starting Sept. 21.

Older dancers should check out Ballet Folklorico Mexico Lindo, a class that teaches about different Mexican folk dances. There are classes for ages 6-11, 12-17 and 18+. All classes take place on Thursdays starting on Sept. 22.
