The fair starts a day earlier this year, opening Thursday, Sept. 1 with the hope of catching travelers before they head out of town, and ends on Monday, Sept. 5.
Every year the fair continues to grow with 50 carnival rides spread over two midways, agricultural exhibits with about 1,000 livestock and entertainment galore.
The Bright House Shrine Circus returns with all-new acts and a parade of clowns, jugglers, tigers and elephants. The popular State Fair Superstar Competition takes place on
Sept. 3 with the winner headlining the fair on
Sept. 4.
On
Labor Day, the annual state fair parade will start at Novi High School and wind its way to the fairgrounds, with discount admission tickets being handed out to spectators along the route.
