March Giving Items
Giving items for the month of March are
non-perishable food items for Easter Baskets and cash donations are welcome. Your donations may be left at the back entrance near the Welcome Center. Thank you for your generosity.

Thirst Gala at SUMC March 2, 5-8:00
Prairie High School Key Club is hosting a Thirst Gala at SUMC. Come enjoy food, entertainment and a silent auction. The lofty goal of $12,000 will go towards funding a clean water well in Swaziland, Africa. Tickets at the door are just $5.00. Semi formal dress is encouraged but not required. Key Club is a philanthropic club, an off shoot of the Kiwanis Clubs. Questions? Ask Beth Uthoff or any other Key Club member at Prairie High School. Everyone is welcome and appreciated. Thank you all very much.
New Digital Signage at SUMC
The Church Council and Trustees of SUMC have been studying the issue of a new outdoor message sign for several years. The current sign is 25+ years old and is in pretty bad shape. We feel it is an important ministry to have the messages stay current. Changing the message in the winter is not fun, especially since the letters will no longer stay on without taping them. Our appeal to the Shueyville City Council for a new electronic sign has finally been approved and donations have been received via Memorial money and the Capital Campaign. The Council and Trustees have accepted the design and bid from CR Signs (our own Aaron Vosmek), so the project is a "Go" and work will begin this spring. A display has been set up in the lobby showing the design and dimensions of the new sign, along with an opportunity to make donations. Thanks to many for your time and contributions to this exciting new project! Please see Vince Uthoff, Jim Goldsberry or Renee Hanrahan if you have any questions or comments.
VBS 2018 - Ship Wrecked
Yes, it's only February, but we are already starting to think about VBS! The dates this year will be June 18-21 with the VBS program on Sunday, June 24th.

Sign ups will be on paper and online in March. Kids finishing 5th grade and older can sign up to help as volunteers and we will need lots of adult volunteers as well. We can use some supplies to help us get started creating a few decorations for the week. If you have the items listed below lying around or are willing to buy a few, we would greatly appreciate your donations! We need to begin working on the set in March. Watch for more details in the future and thanks for all you do to support our Children's Program!

Items Needed
All shades of green and blue streamers
XL google eyes
All colors, types, textures of ribbon, lace and string
Brown paper lunch bags
Purple construction paper or cardstock
White pool noodles

Rolls of blue plastic tablecloth (lots)

Greeters Wanted
The Worship Team at Shueyville UMC is interested in having greeters at the front door before services each Sunday. It takes 15 minutes, so time commitment is minimal. We would love to have a few SUMC friends willing to greet members and guests and to put a smile on the people's faces as they walk through our front door. What a wonderful way to start our day at church! If you would be willing to help,  Brenda Swanson, 319-213-5804 or
Carla Werning, 319-360-9173. Remember, a small amount of time to serve but great pay backs.
The Easter Bunny Needs Your Help
He needs bags of small, wrapped candies to fill 3,000 eggs. Drop off candy or cash donations to the Swisher Library or by mail at P.O. Box 53, Swisher, IA 52338. And come join us for the... Swisher Easter Egg Hunt, on Saturday, March 31, 11:00 SHARP at the Swisher City Park. For kids ages 0-10.

Coordinating Our Building Use
Are you needing a place at the church for a committee meeting or event? Please note that ALL scheduling of the building's use must be cleared and scheduled through Julie in the church office. This is not a "permission" issue, but we do need this central location for keeping track of the building's activities (we are thankful to be able to host a growing number of Boy and Girl Scouts this year!). Just drop an email or phone the office (848-7213), so there are no surprises. Thank you!
