Freebird: Well, it looks like I was completely off the mark with my September prediction I've had for a year now. Just wanted to come on and man up to that.
The CBI's goal a year ago was to start introducing the LDs last month. Unfortunately, the GOI was unable to pass the oil & gas law and introduce a power sharing government which was a key component to moving forward as mentioned by the UNSC, IMF, CBI and Finance Committee.
They are moving far slower than expected (snail's pace) but they are still moving forward. Today they announced that they had a clear choice for the Defense Minister (Salem Daly) and that position should become official shortly.

Billio0: I fully understand what occurred with the Chile Re-denomination of their currency. What puzzles me about a comparison to Iraq and the existing IQD that we have invested in, as well as many others who own it both large and small, corporate and government, is that we purchased it legally from US regulated banks and licensed dealers. As such, Iraq (CBI) has an obligation to honor it at all times.
If they chose to re-denominate the value of their currency by putting another currency in circulation, it seems to me that they are also obligated to replace the existing currency, which we have in our possession, with the new currency in an amount equivalent to the present value of the IQD.
Anything short of this would constitute a failure on the part of Iraq (CBI) to honor their debt to us.

France announces Visa Service in Erbil

Welcoming the French Ambassador to the Kurdistan Region on Sunday, Prime Minister Nechirvan Barzani discussed the Region's growing ties with France as well as ongoing events in the broader region.
On his first official visit to Kurdistan since the arrival of the new French Consul General, Mr Alain Guépratte, Ambassador Denis Gauer announced the opening of a new visa section in France's Erbil Consulate General by the end of the year.
"We are ready to fully develop our relations with Kurdistan, and we are encouraging French businesses to invest in the region," the Ambassador said, emphasising that the new services would support these efforts, allowing residents and visitors in Kurdistan to receive French visas by applying directly to the Consulate.
Iraqi Oil to be Game-Changer for World Markets

Iraq's energy sector holds the key to the country's future prosperity and can make a major contribution to the stability and security of global energy markets, the International Energy Agency (IEA) says in a special report of the World Energy Outlook released today - the first time that the IEA has conducted a comprehensive review of the energy sector of a major Middle East producer.
The IEA's Iraq Energy Outlook finds that Iraq makes by far the largest contribution to global oil supply growth over the coming decades, with current production of 3 million barrels per day (mb/d) more than doubling by 2020 and going on to reach more than 8 mb/d by 2035. Iraq becomes a key supplier to fast-growing Asian markets, mainly China, and the world's second largest oil exporter by the 2030s, overtaking Russia.
"This landmark study confirms the increasing importance of Iraq to the global energy system, highlighting the key role it is expected to play in meeting growing energy needs and the responsibilities it will assume as a strategic source of world oil supply. Put simply, this report shows that we all have an interest in Iraq realising its potential and revitalising its economy," said IEA Executive Director Maria van der Hoeven.
Putin calls for lifting restrictions on trade with Iraq

HRW describes Iraqi judicial system as "Not transparent"

Baghdad (AIN) : The Human Rights Watch described "The Iraqi judicial system as not transparent," calling to "To stop implementing death sentence in Iraq."
A statement by HRW received by AIN cited "There are real concerns over the adherence of the Iraqi judicial system to the international norms of the fair trail."
"The Iraqi authorities' insistence on conducting this shameful series of death sentences confirms the not transparent nature of the Iraqi justice," the statement added.

Twilight News : U.S. State Department announced the conclusion of Baghdad about 467 foreign arms sales deal with the United States valued at $ 12.3 billion, stressing that the military cooperation with Iraq "broad and deep."
The spokeswoman said the U.S. State Department Victoria Nuland in comments to reporters followed "Twilight News", the signing of Iraq arms deal with Russia, "Our relationship with military backing Iraq and very extensive and very deep."
She explained that "if ago all these things forward (arms contracts with Iraq), the value of these deals will be more than 12.3 billion dollars."
Nuland declined to comment on the reports about the military nature of Maliki's visit to Moscow and left all the questions in this context to the Russian authorities.
