7-1-2012 BGG: Looks like Maliki's desperate attempt is just that - big talk (hollow threats). It doesn't look like Talibani isn't going to do another thing to help Maliki out - just too bad he didn't do his job earlier instead of buckling under the White House pressure to keep this "dictator thug" in power.
It appears Barzani has the original "book" Talabani actually signed, remember him going on and on about being there as the POR but not signing anything? How they said it was all his idea, which he denied. I think Barzani has a "chip" he'll use later. We'll see real soon.

Parliament: government must activate customs law
Saturday, 30 June 2012 14:48 Shafaq News : The Parliament denied Saturday, the information that talked about the government's postponement of the customs law, noting that the law will become effective from today and the government will be against the law if not implemented. A member of the parliamentary Finance Committee, Haitham al-Jubouri told "Shafaq News", that "the information that said that the government didn't work with the customs law is not true." "The parliament is one that decides to amend the law, the Iraqi government can propose the postponement but with the approval and the ratification on this subject are within the parliament powers." Iraq returns confiscated property for Kuwaiti Radio
Saturday, 30 June 2012 16:35 Follow-up (AIN) : The Ministry of Information announced that "The State of Kuwait has received 27 boxes containing tapes that belongs to the Radio Station of Kuwait's archive from of the Republic of Iraq which was seized during the former Iraqi regime's invasion of Kuwait in 1990." The Kuwaiti official news agency (Kona) said "This archive contains a wide range of assets to programs produced by Radio of Kuwait in addition to features of the property recovered assets to the songs of Kuwaiti and Arab captured by the Iraqi Former regime." The CBI said that the new regulations would be launched to control and completion of smuggling currency out of the country, pointing out that the offices of banking and corporate finance Government and private banks will be all under direct control and its role will also control customers to control counterfeit foreign transfers.

CBI wants Iraqis to drop the dollar in internal commercial transactions
June 30 2012 The Central Bank has decided to remove three zeros from the dinar, a move it sees essential to strengthen local currency and tempt Iraqis to stick to it. For months, the bank has been mulling the issue but only recently it said a decision has been made and it was a matter of time to translate it into action. "The knocking out of zeros will save Iraqis using massive sums of paper money in their transactions," said Central Bank Deputy Governor Mudher Saleh. Saleh, speaking in a seminar on currency organized by the High Institute of Accounting in Baghdad, assured skeptic Iraqis that the removal of zeros from the currency "shall not affect your earnings, wealth, financial transactions, financial obligations and duties." Yes, the banks continue to test to make sure all files are working properly - nothing worse than a corrupted file causing problems when all must work without error. So even intel providers get a jolt of adrenaline when a bank suddenly conducts a test without warning... In this case, the test rate made no sense and had many of us scratching our heads until we realized after a few anxious moments what was happening. This was later confirmed by the bank itself.
