7-7-2012 Doc: We continue to be amazed that the rate debate continues. $3+ is not anywhere in the 2012 budget as some have reported. $3+ has never been the plan at least as the initial rate.
This has been confirmed time and time again by statements from the CBI and the SIGR. Most get these high rates from statements like "the Iraq dinar will be the highest currency in the region". Do we believe that is the ultimate plan - absolutley!
But that is the ultimate plan as was evidenced in the 2008 5 year plan which indicated the initial rate would be about $1, the rate 2-3 years out would be $3-$4, and the rate 5 years out would be $5+.
This whole rate estimate was based on increased GDP over a 5 year time period. All evidence continues to point toward an initial rate of around $1.

It makes little sense for anyone to expect less value for their investment, and that includes both us as IQD investors and those countries who forgave some or all of Iraq's debt. This is the basis for my confidence in us ultimately netting a profit of some significance eventually, no matter what else happens inside the borders of Iraq. My personal opinion has always been that what we are actually dealing with are two separate and distinct events; an in-country change in the value of their currency, and an international recognition of its value per the countries that shall retain the IQD as a reserve currency. ...Read More

7-6-2012 Footforward: Even if we get into Ramadan it's not a problem. Iraq did all they needed to do a long time ago. This is not going to be held up for Ramadan. I thought it would have been done already.
I take this day by day. I'm not expecting this to take weeks or months, but we have all been wrong every time about the date so far. Its close enough that this can go any time and they have tried to push it through several times.

Shahrestani's office: Kurdistan not allowed signing oil deals without Baghdad
06/07/2012 11:39 BAGHDAD (AKnews): The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) should not sign any oil and gas deals with the foreign countries independently from Baghdad, said an officials. The statement by head of the office of Hussein al-Shahrestani, deputy PM for energy affairs, followed KRG's announcement of a plan to export gas to Turkey after two years, directly and independently of Baghdad. "The KRG or the provinces do not have the right to make contracts with foreign countries with regard to exporting oil, gas or oil derivations...this is the exclusive task of the [Iraqi] Ministry of Oil," Faysal Abddulla said. Friday, 06-07-2012 12: 20 pm Baghdad (News) : Invited Member of the Committee on energy and petroleum Deputy from coalition Iraqi mutasher Samurai, to expedite the adoption of the law of oil and gas to resolve political differences between the territory and the Centre and clear oil policy, although the transparency of oil contracts signed with the Governments of Erbil and Baghdad to the paragraphs of the Constitution is vague on the contracts. He said Samurai (News Agency news) on Friday that most of the paragraphs of the Iraqi Constitution is unclear "and some articles like that where the mines and then explode" because it was written by occupation and not the mentioning of Iraqis (as he put it). He added: the paragraphs of the Constitution concerning oil and gas contracts words "loose" and unclear, some suggest that the oil and gas from the power of the Federal Government and other States must participate, cooperation and coordination in energy oil and oil-producing provinces.
