BOSTON (MarketWatch) - It might not seem the world's top retirement haven, but the editors at International Living say the Republic of Ecuador is the best place in the world to retire to. The cost of living is low and real estate is cheap.
According to Dan Prescher, the special projects editor of International Living, and who - for the record - resides in Ecuador, the country affords him the chance to live on the fraction of the cost of living in the U.S. without sacrificing any quality of life.
"A couple watching their spending here can live well on $800 a month," International Living said. "And even if you push the boat out you'll find it hard to spend more than $1,500."

Last Thursday Night there was a report on CNBC that talked of the "Gold Standard". Since then we have read articles and watched the media go back and forth over can it be done or should it be done. Talk about how the central banks are buying up gold and a lot of it. Why? What did they know or need it for? Not just the United States (FED or Treasury) but Central Banks throughout the world purchasing large amounts to store for security. At the time of the articles, yes. Now if you look at this document from Department of the Treasury, office of the Comptroller, June 7th 2012, http://www.federalre...g20120607a1.pdf on page 152 it talks of gold bullion as "Finical Collateral". Along with Cash and Long term Securities (Treasury Bonds).
There is some history on the fact that currencies around the world will be going to a Gold/ Asset backed currency. I know that some of you will ask, what other assets. There are some being discussed and in time will be defined by the Basel III. Such as oil, diamonds, gems, silver and platinum to name a few.

Thousands of Main Street investors, fed up with a stock market that has barely moved in more than a decade, are seeking out heftier returns in more exotic investments.
And then there is Ryan Williams.
Williams, 35, of Bakersfield, Calif., has abandoned US stocks and bonds for one of the chanciest investments on the map: the Iraqi dinar.
The small-business owner said he has been buying Iraqi dinars regularly since he was first turned on to them around 2005. His last purchase: just this month.
"There's risk in anything," he told The Post in a recent interview, explaining why he gave up US stocks and bonds in favor of the world of currencies. "I think our economy has shown us that."

Kurdistan warns Baghdad it will halt oil exports again
August 28 2012
BAGHDAD (Reuters) : Iraq's Kurdistan regional government threatened to stop oil shipments again at the start of September, claiming Baghdad's central government has continued to hold off on payments to oil companies, as the two sides continue a long-running dispute.
"We are moving ahead to stop oil exports at the start of September, because until this moment we didn't receive any sign Baghdad will approve payments for oil companies working in the region," a senior Kurdistan government official said on Tuesday.
Iraq's uneasy federal union is being tested as the central government has a long-standing disagreement with autonomous Kurdistan in the north over control of oil and territory along their internal border.
Salaries of handicapped persons increased in KR August 28 2012 Erbil (IraqiNews.com) : The Ministry of Social Affairs in Kurdistan Region announced increasing the salaries of the special needs people basing on disability percentage. The Media Director of the Ministry of Social Affairs in KR, Abbas Akram, reported in press statement that "The Ministry linked the increment to the disability percentage," noting that "The Ministry demands official decree from the Ministry of Heath which proves the disability percentage for the handicapped person and the age factor is not considered in the increment." IIP, PUK stress administrating Diyala commonly August 28 2012 Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) : The Iraqi Islamic Party and the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan stressed "The need to administrate Diyala affairs jointly." A statement by the IIP cited that "A delegation from the IIP headed by the Deputy Secretary General of the Party, Salim al-Jubouri, visited, on last Monday, the Political Office of the PUK headed by the Mula Biktyar in Sulaimaniya." Jubouri assured that "The members of the IIP are keen to maintain the friendship bonds with the PUK," he added referring to the Common Commission formed during the last meeting of Diyala Governorate to run affairs of Diyala province, expressing the "IIP's welcome to run the province commonly through partnership." UNSG pledges to continue promoting for nuclear disarmament

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) : The UN Secretary General Baan ki-Moon pledged to personally continue to promote for nuclear disarmament and ensuring their non-proliferation.
Ki-Moon added in a message on International Day of Nuclear Tests "Nuclear tests remain a threat to human health and global stability. The International Day against Nuclear Tests is an important opportunity to call attention to their harmful and long-lasting effects, as well as the continued danger posed by the existence of tens of thousands of nuclear weapons."
"Around the world, symposia, conferences, exhibitions and competitions are being held to raise public awareness and galvanize action to finally end nuclear tests. To achieve this goal, States that have not yet signed and ratified the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty (CTBT) must do so without delay.
Esawi calls to activate law of protecting local products August 28 2012 Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) : MP, Aboud al-Esawi, of the State of Law Coalition called to "Activate the law of protecting the local products to reduce consuming the imported goods in the process of reconstructing the country." He stated to Iraqi News (IraqiNews.com) "The local products are suffering from negligence by the governmental institutes." He urged to "Implement the custom tariffs and to impose taxes on the foreign imported goods." Economist: most of Central Bank actions to reduce dollar incompetent and illogical

Baghdad (News) : The Economist advised Ghazi, soldier, the Central Bank to take steps to reduce scientific dollar Iraqi dinar, noting that most previous plans to do this effect did not last long and illogical.
Said Nelly (News Agency news) on Tuesday that most of the actions of the Central Bank to reduce the dollar didn't work, they must be moved from the auction sale of currency the Central Bank to banks to increase the supply and reduce demand for the dollar and giving the banks a share of dollar as capital.
He added: you must give a large share of the banks for the purpose of remittances is sold, and increase the size of the "quota" for banks, currencies, foreign remittance.

CBI calls for traders and industrialists to get dollar from participating banks to auction price {118.9}

The Central Bank of Iraq, called on Tuesday, traders, industrialists and other productive segments of dollar buying from banks participating in the foreign exchange auction price 118.9 dinars to the dollar.
The Iraqi Central Bank said today that the statement "to stability, development and economic progress, calls for the Central Bank of Iraq involved in activity in Iraq, traders and industrial and other productive segments who import goods and services and inputs and supplies various development, submission to the private banks to participate in the auction of foreign currency to finance their imports through conversion or opening documentary credits and a commitment to exchange rate of 1170 dinars per dollar and respected".
He said access to the dollar "after bringing documents evidencing their fundamentalist import and to customary international standard credits and documentary remittances and instructions issued by the Bank of the Iraqi elmarasi."

Financial representative: the new salary scale project will ease the [10-11] of the salary scale

The parliamentary Finance Committee announced that the draft of the new salary scale for public servants will be abolished, the two-step [10, 11] of the salary scale.
Member of the Finance Committee, said Haitham Al-jaburi said in a press statement that "governmental Committee to amend the salaries issue new held four meetings and will complete its work within three months," he said, adding that "there is a parliamentary Committee monitors the work of the Commission".

Parliamentary committee calls on government to abide by international resolutions on Iran

BAGHDAD (AKnews) : The economy and investment committee in the Iraqi Council of Representatives has called on the government to abide by the international resolutions about sanctions against Iran due to its nuclear program.
Committee chairman Ahmed al-Alwani said: "Iraq must respect the international laws issued against Iran, especially since Iraq is still under Chapter VII of the UN Charter.
"Iran has problems with the United Nations related to international sanctions and has investments with Iraq and is - through the economic situation in Iraq - trying to compensate the economic damage as a result of international sanctions."

Speaking of retiring, let's talk the IQD. The Current IQD, that we have all purchased will be retired. There have been too many reports about new IQD currency, be it bills or coins will be put into place as soon as September 1, 2012. Does that mean the current IQD will be reduced in value? NO. It will increase. How can that be. Very simple. The IQD that each of us own will be required or needed by Iraq, so the CBI can take it out of circulation. That is why there is such a quick turnaround for all of us to cash in (that is why we will get a nice price for our IQD). The quicker Iraq can get the old IQD off the streets, the faster they can issue the new Demons and start building their future.

He said we were told {Euphrates News} on Tuesday that "there are understandings taking place between the political blocs opposing among themselves through meetings and consultations that took place between Maliki and Najafi and Mutlaq recently These signify that there is serious hold national dialogue to resolve all outstanding problems."
He hoped that "the political crisis is resolved and interested parties to issues of citizens."

Baghdad / Orr New: Central Bank of Iraq controls the opening of branches of foreign banks in the country.
The deputy governor of the Central Bank of Iraq the appearance of Mohammed Saleh said that "the bank who wishes to open a branch in Iraq must have made a profit over the past three years with the support of the monetary authorities in the country that there is no suspicion with regard to money laundering."
Talabani to meet Barzani before calling for extended meeting, says MP August 28 2012 MP Hassan Jihad of the Kurdistani Alliance announced that the President, Jalal Talabani, after coming back from Germany, will "meet the President of Kurdistan Region, Masoud Barzani, before calling for holding an extended meeting to discuss the reforms proposal within the next two days."
